Not your typical work conversation

Note to reader: I’m in South Texas for work with a photographer.

Photographer Craig: “Let’s go over here and get some shots. Maybe with that turkey in the background?”
Lincee…very calmly: “Craig. There’s a rattlesnake.”

Craig…just as calm: “Where?”
Lincee: “Step to your right. It’s under the bench you are standing by.”

Craig steps away and begins taking pictures of rattlesnake while Lincee retrieves our King Ranch wildlife biologist as if it were no big deal. Lincee and Craig pow wow by a tree while being eaten to death by mosquitoes as the guide decides the best way to “harvest” the snake.

Craig: “I think we handled that well.”
Lincee: “Considering my initial reaction was to scream my head off and run the opposite direction, I’d say so.”

Yikes, I would have started screaming on the spot. Good work!

  2. Sue Said,

yeah, that’s not something I typically say at work. Or ever, for that matter. :) Impressed by how calm you were! Can you post the pics?

  3. Brittney Said,

Oh my gosh! I totally would have freaked out. About a month ago, I came out of my mom’s house and noticed a snake coiled up in the driveway, directly between the back door and my car–I ran inside and told my dad and he grabbed one of his shotguns (hello, Texas). My mom instantly freaked out–not over the snake, but over the fact that my dad thought he was going to shoot a hole in her driveway!

Long story short–the snake was already dead. The neighbor’s cat had brought it to our home to impress us, just like your resident cat brought you the dead bird. Thanks, kitty.

  4. addy Said,

Oh man – I need to get used to stories like this. We’re moving to the wilderness where there are lots of snakes. Ew! Good thing you guys stayed calm and didn’t freak the thing out!

Just catching up on Prime Time in No Time on Yahoo, and caught Matty poking some fun at the Bachelor! He hosted on Monday, July 28th, for Frank Nicotera who’s on vacay this week. He’s handsome as ever!

  16. Trixie Said,

I loved the Matt Grant video. I didn’t watch that season, wasn’t interested in watching the girls practically have sex with him on camera! It’s a personal thing. BUT the video was great and now, I heart him too! He’s funny. I like funny men.

  17. Cindy Low Said,

Years ago I lived in a remote area wih a lot of r/snakes. I would come home to one curled up on my front porch. The crowning moment was when I went to the garage and opened a cabinet and found a rattlesnake curled up on one of the shelves. I opend the cabient door, saw the snake, closed the door, heard the snake slink along the back of the shelving and whacked it with a shovel. I’m sorry Allah, that I destroyed one of your creatures, but I had to look out for myself. God Bless all creatures.

  18. Jeanne Said,

Snakes are not my favorite, my ex was bitten by a rattlesnake many years ago in the CA desert. Not fun, but he survived.
Here’s a link to a live interview with Deanna and Jesse from yesterday. This was on a local OR. morning program. If you scroll on the ride side to July 30th, you will see links to parts one and two of this interview. It’s very fun and candid http://www.katu.com/amnw

  19. BC Said,

they actually seem genuinely happy. He did say (when asked what they fight about) : “DD is always right” — so you know we were reading her correctly! They “haven’t decided” if their wedding will be televised…. ya right, the money isn’t on the table yet!!
