Electricity is awesome

Ike is still reeking havoc on our dear city. I just got power back on Friday and had EVERY intention of writing an entertaining story on my hurricane adventure. But instead, I flipped on light switches all weekend. BECAUSE I COULD! And I blended things. BECAUSE I COULD! And I used a blow dryer and Chi on my hair. BECAUSE I COULD!

I’ve rediscovered the awesomeness of my iPod, DVR and ice maker, and have given my extra cans of Vienna Sausages to the Houston Food Bank.

Now that I’m sort of back on track, I’ll work on a post to update you on life. So much to talk about. So little time.

  4. Debbie Said,

Well, consider yourself lucky!!! I’m still on the list that now says “Thursday”. Another week without 90210, whatever will I do?!?!?! And DWTS starts tonight!!!!!! ARGH!!!!! Enjoy your POWER and glad you made it through Ike!!!

  5. CJ Said,

So glad to see you back!! I hope you got to see the Emmy’s….however, was not pleased with all the political references but would have been shocked if they hadn’t have occurred.
***Note to self, do not watch award shows near an election.
Enjoy your power and look forward to your next blog!

  6. StephanieG Said,

Thank heavens you’re safe down there. We’ve seen the photos of the devastation, and oh for the love of all that is holy….! Can’t wait for your witty impression of that nasty bastard Ike. Hugs, s

  7. Char Char Said,

Lucky you….I still have no power. I am starting to be very grouchy!

  8. Moose's Mom Said,

Got mine on Thursday and we are lucky. I did the same thing…played with my hair dryer all day. Like Lincee says cause I Could

  9. Brittney Said,

We got ours on Friday too! SUCH a relief–my 21 month old nephew is NOT a fan of being hot and had a lot of trouble sleeping in our unpowered house. I’m just glad our power came back in time for the Grey’s premiere–they originally said it was going to be October 5th before we got power–not sure if I would have made it!

  10. Jill Q Said,

I feel ya. We lost power for 2 weeks after Isabelle a few years ago. I also would flip on my light switches and giggle with glee. Have fun with your blender and your Chi! :)

  11. Tammy Said,

I just got power today!!! Can’t wait to go flip on lights, turn the air way down and sleep soundly!! Hopefully will get cable back sometime soon so TIVO can start recording again. But don’t want to be too greedy :)

  12. Angie Said,

Lincee, been a fan for a long time. I am happy for your good fortune! I’m in Montrose and we’re still out…parts of Montrose are up, but not all. We just don’t realize how much we depend on electricity! I’m looking forward to your storm tales. My DUH moment was when a friend came over and I’m on the sofa squinting with a book light to read. She said “How ’bout we light the candles on this pretty chandelier that’s hanging over your head right now? That might help! Funny how we don’t think of the obvious stuff when thrown into a situation like this…fingers crossed that the power comes back to all of Houston in short order…

  13. Colleen Said,

great to have you back . . . and safe!
