I have to say that my vacation just HAPPENED to fall in pretty perfect timing with the Bachelorrette. It never occurred to me to check the ABC schedule to make sure my mission trip was not the same week as the season finale. Luckily, I had two witty writers to step in for me for the Men Tell All. Thanks Catherine and Jill! You guys rocked!
It’s been a wild ride for our little Jillian. She’s been on an incredible journey. She let some dude lick her toes. She left another poor soul on the train tracks in the Canadian wilderness. She dumped a guy for being too perfect and lost her breath when he showed up at her door to out HWMNBN. Her heart broke when Ed left her to go back to his job and then exploded when he returned to stake his claim. She was sucked in by some pretty chach-tastic musical stylings of a wannabe country star. She made a big mistake by kicking an adorable guy to the curb.
Clearly, Our Host Chris Harrison was not exaggerating when he said that this has been the most emotional season in Bachelorette history.
And Jillian assures the camera that she is in love with the remaining two guys:
“Letting Reid go was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. He is PERFECT for me. I mean PERFECT. But he never told me that he loved me and I need to hear that. Several times a day. I know Kiptynite doesn’t say it either, but have you seen his nine pack? Seriously. That trumps love any day. And sure…Ed and I had issues on the fantasy suite date. It didn’t go as well as planned and it messed with our heads. No pun intended. But he’s promised me that if I give him a second chance, it will be worth the wait. How could I think about letting this guy go? He picks me up EVERY TIME I see him. It makes me feel dainty and light. And that’s important to me. It too trumps love.”
Ed Meets the Family
Jillian and Ed reunite on the Big Island of Hawaii. He picks her up and twirls her around. She thinks he does this because he loves how she is so petite. I think it’s because it hurts his back to bend over so far down just to kiss her. Perhaps it’s both. They find a bench and sit down to talk.
Ed: “The last time we were together, I had a hard time.”
Jillian: “Well…technically, you didn’t have a hard…”
Ed: “You know what I mean. I want to reassure you that this time, there will be no pressure.”
Jillian: “It seems we still have a problem.”
Ed: “No, no…I mean…there will be pressure, but, what I’m saying is…”
Jillian: “Not to worry Ed. I understand.”
Jillian and Ed go to a bungalow to meet Peggy, Glen, Cousin Tori and Grandma. Granny is still a little firecracker and tells the group that Ed is “terrifically good looking, eh?”
Jillian jumps in head first and suggests that Ed tell his story. Ed looks at her with wide eyes, visibly swallows and takes a deep breath.
Ed: “There are times in a man’s life when he becomes really stressed out and is unable to perform in ways that he would like at a moment’s notice…”
Jillian stops him from further embarrassment, tells Cousin Tori to shut her mouth and gives Granny a glare for laughing. She encourages Ed to tell the story about how he left the show for a few weeks.
Ed: “Oh! That makes more sense. Coming on the show was huge for me. I’m married to my job and it scared me to be gone for eight weeks. I let the pressure get to me and I decided I didn’t want to sacrifice my career to be here. So I left.”
Glen looks ticked. Peggy looks disappointed. Cousin Tori looks bored and Granny is flirting with the pool boy.
Ed: “But then I couldn’t stop thinking about her. I let her down. I let myself down and I knew I needed to do whatever I could to get back on the show. Luckily, Jillian took me back and I’m going to do everything in my power to show her that it was the right decision.”
Glen looks skeptical. Peggy looks annoyed. Cousin Tori looks smitten and Granny is bouncing the pool boy on her lap.
Peggy takes Ed to the front room to go through a list of 358 questions. We learn that Ed wants at least three kids, wants to retire in Hawaii and thinks that honest and love is the glue that holds a marriage together. Peg seemed happy with Ed’s answers, but she didn’t seem sold on the idea that he was the right one for Jilly.
Glen takes Ed out back and does very little talking. Ed tells Glen he is in love with Jillian and will do whatever it takes to make it work. He wants to give Jilly a ring and is curious about Glen’s thoughts on a potential proposal. There is a long pause and Glen answers that he would love to see his daughter hitched and that he would do somersaults if a proposal took place at the end of this journey.
And what better way to celebrate the pending nuptials than an impromptu hula dance at sunset! Cousin Tori and Jillian wear coconut bras over their shirts. Nice! They all sway back and forth in grass skirts. Jillian is barking orders at Ed and he is quick to jump through her hoops. Dorktastic!
Jillian: “Today could have been really awkward and weird, but it wasn’t.”
Lincee: “Were my eyes playing tricks on me, or were you not a part of the backyard hulu that just took place? That was the definition of awkward.”
Jillian: “Excuse me Lincee, but I would think that my fantasy date with Ed was the definition of awkward. I mean, what was that all aboot? Can you imagine coming out in a gossamer nightie and doing a sultry dance, only to get nothing out of the deal? I even turned him over and stuck my…”
Lincee: “Touché Jillian. Touché. Please stop talking.”
Kip Meets the Family
Kip runs to greet Jillian with a kiss that lasted about five minutes. His tongue was all over the place and his approach was off. Notably, there is physical chemistry and Jillian doesn’t seem to mind that she has to wipe her mouth every time they pull apart for air.
Jillian: “My family is a lot like your family.”
Kip: “So your Mom is not a fan of wire hangers?”
Jillian: “Sure she will grill you, but you just have to go with the flow. I’m not worried at all. You’ll be great!”
Kip: “I know I’ll be great Jillian. It’s who I am. I did 8,387 sit ups yesterday. The abs, if I do say so myself, are rockin’.”
Jillian squeals like a dolphin when she sees her parents again. They sit down in the living room and she tells them that Kip was the first out of the limo and she was stuck immediately by his beauty.
Jillian: “He was soooo good looking. But I wondered if he had a brain. Not only is he smart and cute, but he does charitable work on the side. And his abs. You should see his abs! Stand up honey and show them your abs!”
Kip lifts his shirt. Peggy begins to fan herself. Cousin Tori begins to drool. And Granny plays them like a washboard.
Peggy pulls Kip aside grills him. We learn that he wants two kids and that communication is key in a relationship. He wants to marry his best friend and have coffee with her every morning.
Glen takes Kip outside to give him the opportunity to ask for his daughter’s hand in marriage. When he doesn’t, he inquires if he is in love with Jillian. Kip dances around the direct question and tells Glen that he loves Jillian’s zest and passion for life and that there is a definite energy that he connects with.
Glen does not look happy.
Jillian walks Kip to the car and makes out with him for 10 minutes. It’s a good thing that this episode was two hours long, or we would have missed this tutorial on how NOT to kiss. I like to think of it as ABC’s adult version of an After School Special.
Back inside, Granny tells Jillian that Kip is very, very, very, very nice. Cousin Tori loves his gentle personality and that work isn’t a big deal to him. She thinks Kip will balance Jillian well. Glen loves Ed because he straight up told him that he loved Jillian. Peg is drawn to Kip’s energy.
But Jillian needs to reveal a secret and she wants to confide in Cousin Tori. They scoot outside and dish.
Jillian: “My overnight date with Kip was HOT. I wanted to rip his clothes off.”
CT: “Yes. I saw the abs. I don’t blame you. So what’s the problem?”
Jillian: “With Ed, there wasn’t that feeling. Remember that cheese cloth I bought from Frederick’s of Hollywood? Nothing. I wanted the night to be hot, heavy and steamy, but it was more lukewarm, limp and stale.”
CT: “Again…what’s the problem?”
Overnight Ed Date
Ed tells the camera that he is in love and he wants to seal the deal.
Yes. He said, “I want to seal the deal. Tonight must be a success.”
I love how we aren’t even trying to hide the fact that these two are going to be doing the horizontal tango in a matter of hours. We used to speculate back in the day. Now we just talk about our bedroom problems and air all the dirty laundry. Because honest is the best policy.
Jillian pulls up to Ed’s hotel in a red Jeep. Sadly, Ed has chosen to wear his terrycloth sleeveless shirt. You know the one. The scoop neck is just an inch or two too scoopy? The one that probably came out of the Magnum P.I. wardrobe check in 1979? Yeah…that’s the one.
They hop aboard a chopper for the seventh time this season. Jillian and Ed are so over the helicopter, so they just make out in the back seat as Gary the camera guy gets b-roll footage for later. The chopper drops them off near a rain forest and they swim around in a lagoon by a waterfall.
Annnnnnd there are the green shorty shorts again. Seriously ABC intern. I’m disappointed that you did not intervene from our last experience with the green shorty shorts. Head in the game, man. C’mon!
Jillian: “So how have you been feeling these last few days?”
Ed: “Much better. You are like one of my best guy friends.”
Lincee: What the what?
Ed: “You are beautiful. You are a genius for keeping me here. You are perfect for me. I will never leave you again.”
Jillian blushes and curls up into a ball so he can hold her like a baby.
Ed tells the camera that the day’s chemistry was amazing, but there is a lot of pressure building up. He gives the thumbs up sign and says that everything is going well and he’s ready to take it to the next level.
Ed invites Jillian back to his place and everyone walks cautiously and slowly back to the bungalow, careful not to make any sudden movements. They don’t want to scare “anything” away.
Jillian tells the camera that the physical and sexual chemistry was there. ABC shows the bedroom light turning off followed by a tight shot of the volcano spewing lava.
I’m assuming they had sex, but one can’t be too sure.
Overnight Kip Date
KIP’S ABS! FOR REAL! THERE THEY ARE! PAUSE THE TV!
Seriously. That boy should carry things over his head all the time. Why did we not see more of those luscious abs this season? We should bronze them or something.
I’m getting of target.
Jillian arrives to pick Kiptynite up on a blow-up speed boat. He hops in and begins making out because let’s face it…that’s what they do. They straddle a surfboard and paddle out to their own personal rocky island. They have a picnic and eat fruit off of each other’s stomachs.
Maybe that part was just in my head, but whatever.
Back at Kip’s place, he decides to confess to Jillian that he is nervous for the first time in his life. He admits that he would be hurt if he lost her. He takes a leap of faith and tells her that he is falling in love.
I personally think he was doing this because he knows Jillian needed to hear that in order to pick him. And since he’s a winner and never has been dumped, he needed that security and was willing to go for broke.
Rose Ceremony
Jillian tells us that she is excited for the future and that both men are perfect for her. She reads notes from the boys and I didn’t take time to pause and read what they said, because…I don’t care. She’s picked Ed and Kip is about to experience heartbreak like the rest of us.
Kip goes to look at rings and chooses a lovely one that any girl would be proud to wear. Then he goes for a run on the beach shirtless.
Thank you ABC. I have a feeling this is the last time I will see that impeccable nine pack.
Ed feels that he is ready to be a husband. Unfortunately, he picks a pear shaped ring and the diamond guy does not stop him from making this mistake. Bless his heart.
Jillian puts on her engagement dress that looks like it came from David’s Bridal and twirls around in the mirror. Kip stares at his ring. Ed prays in the back seat of the car.
Our Host Chris Harrison greets Polly Pocket outside of the bungalow and escorts her to the freshly stained bridge that inevitably leaves rust marks on Jillian’s engagement dress. But she doesn’t care.
Jillian: “I’m nervous.”
Hare: “You know what to do. You know what you want. Suck it up babe.”
Jillian tells the camera that it is going to kill her to let this guy go. There are so many things she loves about this guy and she adores him.
Kip exits the limo. No one is surprised.
Jillian: “You are incredible. You have that spark for life that I have been looking for. You are all the things I’ve always dreamed of. But I’ve fallen in love with someone else.”
Kip: “I’m a man, and I’ll get through this. I want you to be happy. Thank you for everything. You are incredible and Ed’s a lucky man.”
Kip rubs his heart as he leaves the pier. I’m not sure if it’s because his heart is breaking, or he’s making sure he still has the receipt for the ring. Regardless, he left with class. I’m so glad he just got in the limo and didn’t kiss her or make a fool of himself.
Kip tells the ABC psychotherapist that he is hurting and wonders why strange liquid is squeezing from his eyes. She explains that these are called “tears” and that he should embrace the moment. He’s experiencing growth and has just taken a leap of faith.
Jillian is super excited for Ed to show up. But what is this? A red bulky taxi? A pair of sneakers and khakis? What happened to Ed’s unusually short navy tights and purple tie with his grey suit? What’s going on here?
Enter Reid.
Cue “Hallelujah Chorus.”
Reid: “I had to pull multiple strings to get back on this island. Well, technically, I only had to call Hare. He and I became tight because we are witty and talented men and he gave me his number because he wants to hang out when the show ends. I can’t wait. I love that guy. Anyway…there is no doubt in my mind that Jillian and I are perfect for each other and that she is making a big mistake. I’m going to tell her how I feel and then propose.”
Hare makes a quick call to Caesar the limo driver and asks him to make a few trips around the island. We are in CODE BLUE!
Reid saunters down the pier into Jillian’s arms. She is literally clinging to him and hugging him for dear life. She is completely shocked as he spills his guts to her. He tells her everything she ever wanted to hear, including the fact that he loves her.
Reid: “I was an idiot.”
Jillian: “I don’t know what to think! Letting you go was so hard. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Including how I just kicked the dude with phenomenal abs to the curb. What am I supposed to do here?”
Reid: “Our connection was indescribable. The connection we have is real and it is meant to be.”
My jaw is wide open and I can’t take my eyes off the TV.
Reid drops to one knee and she jerks him back up.
Negative Ghost Rider. The pattern is full.
Jillian: “Do you know what’s going on right here? Right now?”
Reid: “Yes. What’s going on, here without me, is all wrong.”
Reid puts his head to her head in that special way as she mumbles on about how she just needs to think.
I keep yelling KISS HER to the TV, but Reid doesn’t move an inch.
Jillian: “I have to think about un-making a decision.”
Lincee: We call that changing your mind, but whatever. TEAM REID! Un-make the decision. UN-MAKE THE DECISION!”
Jillian asks Reid to wait for her as she scoots inside to find Harrison.
The ABC camera gets a shot of Ed at a drive through ordering French fries.
Jillian: “How am I supposed to make a decision?”
OHCH: “What’s your gut telling you? It’s still up to you, Jillian. If you are in love with Ed, stand by your convictions. Are you in love with Reid? Because America sure is…”
Jillian: “Not helping Chris. What do I do?”
OHCH: “Use the force Jillian.”
Jillian: “Stop talking like Yoda and HELP ME MAN!”
OHCH: “Are you excited about this guy getting down on one knee and proposing to you?”
Jillian: “Yes.”
OHCH: “Do you want him to be your husband?”
Jillian: “Yes.”
OHCH: “Then my work here is done. Help you I did, yes?”
Jillian goes out to tell Reid that her heart belongs to Ed. She wants to stick with her decision she made this morning. She assures Reid that she cares about him and will never forget their chemistry.
Then we experienced the longest, saddest hug in television history.
He snuggles into her hair to remember the smell and kisses her hand. He waves a tearful goodbye as the taxi schleps him back to the airport.
Call me Reid.
Jillian has now sweated and cried all her makeup off as she takes her position at the proposal rock pedestal. Third time down the pier that stains your dress is a charm! She wipes mascara from under her eyes and hoists her strapless dress up as she eloquently tells the crew, “Ed better no BLEEPING disappoint me.”
Someone get her a shot of whiskey. My girl’s nerves are toast!
Ed arrives and Jillian is spent. She just wants a ring on her finger, but Ed is persistent. He wants to get the speech out that he’s been practicing for the last four hours in the back of the limo.
Ed: “You may not know how much you’ve impacted me and changed me as a man and helped me reprioritize my life. You are everything I’ve ever asked for in a woman. Beautiful, intelligent, funny, confident. I know that I love you, I need to know that you love me.”
Ed pauses before pulling out the ring to hear Jillian’s response.
Jillian: “There is no doubt in my mind that I am madly in love with you.”
They hug and kiss and he picks her up and swings her around. He asks if she will marry him. She squishes her nose up at the pear shaped diamond, but then decides that beggars can’t be choosers and agrees with a hearty, “ABSOLUTELY!”
I’m so glad she wore her flowy engagement dress, because her legs were able to wrap around his waist for the perfect twirl. Then she jumps on his back and they run down the pier together.
Although I think it is love, she sure did have a hard time getting over Reid. Should we be concerned? Should we be nervous?

The wardrobe on this episode was beyond ridiculous. Even beautiful Kip looked a little too much like Grimace for my taste. I’m also fairly convinced that Jill picked Ed so they can share shorts, since they apparently wear the same size.

Well Lincee i’m a long time reader, first time poster. Just wanted to say i love your blog.
I cant believe with the amazing amount of wit you have, you wouldnt be pulling for ED. He is a pretty witty guy, who obviously fell head over heals. It drives me nuts reading all these message boards where people are like “she made a mistake”, “she picked the wrong one”. How do we know she made a mistake or that she picked the wrong one? All we see is the what ABC wants us to see. At any rate, i picked ED from the beginning and i truly hope they are happy and that it works out. For me, if Reid was serious about making a proposal, i would think he would show up in a nice suit with some dress shoes. Seriously, khakis, an untucked shirt and canvas shoes. Really?!?!
Ed reminds me in some ways of Trista’s husband Ryan. They seem to have some similiar traits. It was hard to watch Jillian say goodbye to Reid but I think it was actually really good that she got one more chance to re-examine her feelings and her decision about Reid. Now she doesn’t have to “wonder” what if. She had the chance and didn’t want it enough to lose Ed. I just wonder why they aren’t saying Jillian is engaged. In her interview with People she did not say she came out of it engaged and that she couldn’t say she is in love?

I think the women of Philly are rejoicing that Reid was rejected. I suspect that he will be showing condos to many single women in the future.
Hanhh…broken heart or ring receipt…I guffawed Lincee…and not just there, but that was classic.
My husband’s theory as to why she wraps her legs around everyone all of the time… “maybe she was dropped when she was little”. hahaha! He later expanded his theory to include “maybe she fell off of a surfboard when she was little too” when she was wrapped around Kiptyn during their surfboard ride.
And the abs on that Kiptyn. Oh my awesomeness. Actually seems like a really good guy.
Reid was my favorite and I hated how this thing ended because Ed was not MY type. I keep having to remind myself that this is Jillian’s gig. Can’t wait until tonight’s show… more Reid!!!

AWESOME Lincee. You expressed everything I was feeling during the whole Reid interaction so well. I was sitting motionless with my palms on my cheeks the entire time… which is kind of embarrassing when watching with a roomful of people, but whatev.

Bring out the violins….I think everyone had their kleenex boxes and sniffed away last night, amidst all that I sighed a few times and pet my dog on his head as he looked at me like what is with the drama drama drama music……the ending was soooo played up. Reid just really wanted to say how he felt which was way too late, unless the network kept her hidden from Reid after she let him go.
Not sure what flight he took, but his suit jacket and pants didn’t match, and was in bad need of a haircut, I just figured he had it so bad for her this is what love does I guess. Loved the sneakers, so 80’s.
Well the wiener, I mean winner is ED. I know I know he’s a nice guy….and I really think they suit each other especially after the matching shorts the other week on the beach. I wasn’t surprised at all by her decision, and the throwing in Reid in the middle was a classic move. Who I actually felt really bad for was Kiptonyte…poor dude had his heart crushed. I was secretly hoping she wouldn’t go with the safe, but she did, and safe keeps you cozy at night I guess.
And by the way, was Jillian’s dress beautiful or what??
Fantastic recap Lincee! Love the shout out to Top Gun. My husband uses that line every single day and has taught my 5 year old to use it as well. They both always use “Negative Ghost Rider, the pattern is full” to tell me no about something. It makes being declined about something not so bad.

Thank god for Twitter so I can get to the recap IMMEDIATELY! and the “Negative Ghost Rider. The pattern is full.” made me laugh out loud. I am so DONE with Jillian that I get mad watching the show. The recap replaces the actual show in my memory, thank god.
Well, another season bites the dust. The end seems overdue, but I’m going to miss seeing Reid and Michael on my TV. They were princes in a season full of frogs.
On another note, my husband came in during the last few minutes of the show and pointed out how awkward Ed looks when he bends down to kiss/hug Jillian because he leans farther than is necessary. His comment was, “Ed, stop when there’s resistance!”
Great blog Lincee, as always. Here, here on Kiptyn’s abs. I wonder if there is anyway to turn the shot of him carrying the surfboard into my screensaver? Also, was it just me or did Ed wear two different colors of the terry-cloth, scoop-neck tank top last night? As someone said already — really, really awful choices last night (and really the whole season). Whoever did wardrobe needs to reassess their choices — how can you make Kip look bad in the suit he wore to the final rose ceremony (really, he should have just remained shirtless at all times) and Jillian look frumpy and bloated (there is no way she ways more than 85 pounds — she should be able to look good in almost anything)?
I believe Kate Winslet shouted the name “JACK!!!” 78 times in “Titanic”. I wonder if Jillian’s dolphin squeals would oust Kate from first place? Ed is a dork.
Once again, a recap above & beyond, but sister you disappoint me — no comment about the truly awful, hideous shoes Kyptonite stepped out in? Mama always taught me you can judge a man by his watch and his shoes………………let’s face it, those abs aren’t going to last forever!
BTW – Lincee, pass your big purple hat to Webman – you are being pimped woman!
I loved when Jillian said, “You know what’s going on here, right?” Like she doesn’t usually stand on a pool-top pier in a prom dress. In the end, I was just glad they didn’t jump in the pool like Jason and Melissa.
Ok. I said this on a previous post, but I want to know what everyone thinks. OHCH really pushed Jillian towards Ed last night. Why didn’t he offer her some time to decide? It is the biggest decision she had to make on the show. I KNOW the show needs another success story. I think that it might have been better to give her time to see both guys outside of the show- especially after last season’s mess. I really, really wish he had presented that option to her. Maybe she would have know in a week or so. They did it for Jerry O’Connell’s brother. Why couldn’t Jillian have the same opportunity.
She seems so magnetized to Reid at the podium. It was like she wanted to be as close to him as possible. She really smiled and seemed thrilled when he got down on one knee. Then, all of a sudden, her facial expression changed and she needed time to think. That should have told her she needed time to decide between Ed and Reid. Ugh. I wish that would have happened. Let them sweat it out a little- they both put her in weird positions this season. IF Ed and Jillian don’t make it, I think OHCH’s rushing her is to blame.

Lincee, I have not even made it to the end of the recap, but I have to thank you for pointing out the hideous choice Ed made when selecting a ring. When I saw it, I audibly said “gag”. And then I gagged. Carry on.
Oh my gosh–I was screaming at the TV for Reid to kiss her, too!
And amen to the “an inch or two too scoopy.” Those tank tops are a deal breaker.
YIKES. Lincee, you summed it up. That girl just wanted a ring on her finger and $60,000 or not, it was an unfortunate ring. She chose poorly and I don’t think this one is going to last. OHCH is usually right on….but didn’t it seem like he was pushing Jillian to pick Ed when she was having her Reid breakdown? Hmmm, maybe he was just sick of the crying and ready for her to move on. Go Team Reid!! I can’t wait to hear when he’s moved past her!

I too am disappointed Jillian didn’t pick Reid last night, but she & Ed looked thrilled to be together, so I hope this one beats the Bachelor/ette odds. I’m hoping that’s also why ABC has kept Jilly mum all season. Maybe they know they have a winner here, and want a real happy ending to be the SHOCKER on ATFR.
My only disappointment in Ed was the ring … I mean you have Neil Lane giving you diamonds & you choose that haneous thing. It’s worse than the Aidan ring from S&TC, and that’s a tv show – Jilly has to wear this thing for real! You can’t exactly exchange it, or upgrade it in a few years …

I love Reid and his Chandler Bing ways. He reminds me so much of my husband that it’s hard not to love him. He had me at “I’m afraid of the germs in fondue.”
He’s wrinkly, ill-fitting outfit paired with his weird shoes was a little disappointing, but when he smiled his boyish smile, I thought that there was hope for him and Jilly yet. I wish we could’ve seen his ring, because Lord knows whatever it was it had to be better looking than Ed’s.

Maybe Ed’s mom’s ring is pear-shaped, and that means a long marriage to him? I wanted a pear-shaped engagement ring nearly 30 years ago (got a round one – I was so disappointed, but learned to love it!)

Another great recap Lincee–I laughed out loud at work probably one too many times, but that’s an occupational hazard that your readers are used to by now! I was so glad ABC didn’t ruin it for us by telling us Jillian was engaged at the end.
The only disappointment was Ed’s ring pick. I gasped when I saw it and yelled at the TV, “No. Ed, no. NO!” Then all I could hear was Carrie Bradshaw saying, “It was a pear-shaped diamond with a gold band…” Even Neil Lane was like, “You know, um, if it’s coming from you, she’ll like it no matter what….”
It clear that Jillian picked Ed because he was a “guarantee”. Of course her father told her that he asked for her hand in marriage. Im sure when they were in HI had plently of time to discuss Jill’s options and I’m sure the dad told her. Jillian has been very clear from (pretty much) the beginning that she wanted an engagement out of this. Neither Kip nor Reid was offering this to her, so she went with Ed. He has been dropping L-bombs for two weeks now. If there was any doubt in your mind that he first priority was an engagement, her (funny yet telling) comment of “Ed, you better not F-ing disappoint me” should have erased all doubt. I took this as: “I just let two guys go that were ready to get down on one knee… and one who I really liked as much, if not a little more than, you… so you better propose or I’m going to be pissed”
To me, if you are really head over heels for Ed, she shouldn’t have been “disappointed” had an engagment not come. I think about my situation and how much I love my boyfriend, and there is no way I would choose another incredible guy over him, even if I knew the other incredible guy wanted to marry me on the spot. I would rather be patient with my boyfriend and wait until it’s the right time… or for that matter, I’d rather be with him even if it didn’t end up with an engagement…. over someone who just wants to marry me. It doesn’t seem like Jillian had/ has the same attitude toward Ed. It seems like her descision was more along the lines of “Ed is most likely to give me the proposal that I want and he loves me, so that who I’m picking”….. instead of “who is the right one for me”…
Don’t know if what I just said makes sense, but I am so blinded by the Reid light. I was sad to see him go

I don’t blame Ed for the bad ring choice. I blame Neil Lane for 1. Designing such an ugly ring and 2. allowing Ed to leave with it.
FINALLY, a montage of Kiptynite’s abs in all their shirtless glory! Can someone PLEASE tell my why the Intern allowed him to wear a shirt all season? Spring for another intern whose sole responsibility is to make sure the men with 9-packs aren’t wearing shirts, ABC.
That being said, I think Ed was the right choice for Jillian out of the two left, but if it were my season it would have been between Reid, Kiptyn and Jake – perfect pilots are A-OK in my book! I just got back from a mission trip in Costa Rica and prayed that God would let Jake by our pilot coming or going. Sadly, he was not
And really, Ed? A pear-shaped diamond? I suppose the fact that it is 9 billion carats makes up for the fact that it’s the WORST SHAPE EVER. Why didn’t we get a closeup of Reid’s ring?! And Kiptyn’s was a PRINCESS cut – ISN’T THAT WHAT SHE THINKS SHE IS?! Come on, Jillian – head in the game!

So I’m wondering about Jillian squealing when she sees her family for the 2nd time in a week or less. I sort of get that squeals the first time she sees them with Ed, even though it has only been 2 months since she saw them last.
But seriously, she squeals, hugs and twirls when she sees them with Kyptonite. What’s up with that? OK, I know the answer, it’s scripted. But seriously, it looked hokey.
I think someone mentioned it above, but I was hoping they would not jump into the pool. That is so early 2009.
I think Reid and her (or her and Reid, if you’re Jilly) will end up together one day. There’s just too much chemistry there.

On a side note, as much as I’m not excited about Ed being the final choice, if you look at the ring on people.com in detail…. come on beaners!!! It is a beautiful ring! Although pear shaped rings are a little old school, the ring is ridiculous. It’s not like it’s a Marquis cut… LOL now that would have been bad!
I agree with #7, Ed reminds me of Ryan (of Ryan and Trista). Part of the reason I figured Jillian would pick him. Good husband material. Steady, not flashy, a little nerdy, unlikely to leave Jill for the next thing that comes along. But the main reason I figured it was Ed, was the whole ED controversy in the Fantasy Suite.
I had a different take on that than most of the ladies here. I took it that Jillian was disappointed that Ed wasn’t mauling her. She wasn’t expecting sex, but she wanted some serious heat from this man she fell in love with. And when it didn’t happen she could hide her disappointment. Would she have reacted this way if Ed was No. 2? Not so much. Also, I’m big on following rules and I don’t like the trend that people can leave and come back, or just show up and propose. It’s ruining the integrity of the game!
For the next bachelor I want someone totally new, maybe in their mid-30s and about 30 awesome beauties, including at least five who are wickedly evil.
I have read this blog for years, but have not had a chance this season to do so….I have been watching the show though! I loved Reid from the beginning, but didn’t realize so many others do also! He’s great!! I too liked what he was wearing….to me, he looks great in whatever! And, yes, Ed’s engagement ring choice was horrible! Couldn’t believe that Neil Lane even allowed that one to be a choice for the guys! Oh well… I do believe that Jill and Reid’s chemistry and connection was BY FAR the strongest, but I’m not saying that she made the wrong choice. If it were me, however, I would have picked Reid. But, the show wouldn’t have lasted but about three weeks because he was my pick from the very beginning! TEAM REID
I don’t know– I just didn’t totally buy Jillian and Ed last night. Something just doesn’t sit right. I still wonder if he was the other guy with the girlfriend (there have been murmurings to that effect). And I wonder if they will still be together on AFR. Maybe we haven’t seen the last of Reid, but maybe that’s just me hoping he gets some camera time tonight. Remember how some folks remember seeing her mouth, “call me” after she kicked Reid off, when he was getting in the limo? Maybe this whole Jillian/Ed thing was a deal with the producers… man, this show has made me paranoid!

I agree with what Heidi #47 said – shame on you, Neil Lane. Jillian should get to go to his jewelry store first, pick out her top 2-4 favorite rings and then present those rings to the final 2. At least then she’d know she’d be happy with whatever they pick out.
I thought it was humorous that Ed was the best dressed guy in the end. Kip’s horrific purple suit and mismatched shoes and Reid’s crazy canvas shoes and khakis made Ed look like a fashion plate.
I love that I will have watched 4 hours of this madness by 9:00 tonight! How DO they stretch it out so much!?!??!?!
Great recaps! I thought Reid was adorable from the beginning. Saw a commercial this week showing Kiptyn in the limo with red eyes. Way to keep the suspense going, ABC. My favourite parts: 1. when cranky Reid hopped back into his mini van and Jilly had to drag the door closed. You broke my heart, you shut the door! 2. gushing lava. ha! Ed’s a dork.
I’m finally able to comment. I was sick last night so I will have to go back to my DVR and watch the parts I missed. I honestly thought she was going to pick Kypton. They were playing up Ed so much I thought it was the old bait & switch routine TPTB have pulled before.
I’m betting Jake or Kyp will be the next Bachelor. As much as we’ve all said we want someone new I don’t think that’s going to happen.

I think the bridge wasn’t newly painted but hosed down by the intern repeatedly. There were times when it was dry or drying or puddled with water. It’s a TV trick to hose things down to make it look new and fresh.
So as I was watching Ed dribble on and on I noticed that he sounded exactly like Jason. I only know this because I watched the MTA right before the finale. Weird.
I too was appaled at Ed’s ring choice. I’ll have to take a closer look on People but on the show last night it was the worst. And I was LOL at #39 Lindsay saying that Neil Lane was happy to get rid of that thing. LMAO!!

I’m glad Gene the Bleep Button Guy got to participate in last night’s episode. I know he’s not as involved as Gary, Caesar, or Intern, but I hope he got to go to Hawaii with the rest of the crew in case there was some sort of emergency editing that needed to be done on site.
In all seriousness, I think Jilly was uber-obsessed with a proposal and picked what she thought was a sure thing. I don’t believe Reid’s “love you” was genuine, and I think he did it as a last ditch effort to come back. I’m kind of disappointed in him and Kip for proposing, when I don’t think their heart was in it.
I’m not sure if I’m just an idiot or something, but I can’t find Chris Harrison’s blog or Jillian’s. Usually they’re up by now, aren’t they? I wonder if there will be a shocker at the ATFR show tonight and they’re not posting anything today so they don’t give anything away?

The ring wasn’t so bad. It could have been heart shaped. There’s something very retro about a pear shaped diamond if done right, and Neil Lane does it right. Why neither picked the gorgeous cushion cut I saw Kiptyn pick up, however, is beyond me.
For the next Bachelor, I’m ready for some new blood. I mean, we haven’t seen a fresh face since Hotter-than-crap-Brad-Womack. We got Diana from that season, then Jason, then Jillian. I feel like I am the only person who is happy she picked Ed. I have liked him from the beginning…maybe I like nerds too? Also, all the bad and horrible comments about Ed’s swimsuit…geesh, I didn’t think it was that bad. It could be worse, it could have been a speedo for gawd’s sake. I think these days we are so use to men’s short dragging their knees that anything above that is seen as short shorts. I like looking a great pair of legs and Ed has them. Great blog once again, Lincee! You have really kept me into it this season. I can’t imagine trying to watch without your recaps to look forward to.
So, one thing I noticed last night is that Jillian soliloquied (for the zillionth time) that Kiptyn is usually the dumper not the dumpee. All along she has expressed caution about not being able to trust that he wouldn’t do he same to her. So…I think even though she was SOOO attracted to his 9-pac and seemed to enjoy those sloppy kissed (still gives me the creeps) and that he was a rich boy from San Diego, she took some pleasure in being the dumper and foregoing the dumpee experience.

I am SO excited she chose Ed!!! Definitely chose a partner for life versus a fling… And Reid was soooo high-school boyfriend. And I don’t think she was debating accepting Reid’s proposal – she totally looked like she was going to throw up.
I absolutely can NOT believe she chose the man I’ve loved from the very first episode. That has NEVER happened! I have been an Ed lover since the beginning, with so many others. I really liked the final three guys. They were all so sweet and so genuine. But Ed has been my pick all along. I hope they make it forever!
Why the surprise over Ed’s ring choice? The guy has crappy taste. I think the intern helped him pick out his suit for the FRC and that’s why he looked better than previously (Easter egg suit). I also think Reid (and possibly Kip too ) was encouraged to dress so casually. Reid always looked great at previous rose ceremonies. I think the intent was to make the consistently, ridiculously bad dressed Ed look better than the competition for once.

I’m not sayin’ that it’s a bad thing – but someone who needs or wants a lot of reassurance is NOT a good match with someone who is less than forthcoming on that score. I have a friend who calls his wife 5 times a day – I would want to strangle anyone who kept interrupting me like that, but for them, it works. So it’s a good thing that he’s married to her and not to me, just like it’s a good thing that Jillian is with Ed and not Reid. Reid will find someone who adores him just the way he is, neurotic indecisiveness and all…..

OK – I skipped ahead and have not read ALL of the posts yet, but I will….just wanted you to know that my DVR schedule says that the ATFR tonight is at 9:00 Central/Standard time…and it will last one hour. So, all you folks out there thinking it will be at 7:00….do a double check for your time slot.
My thoughts – why does everyone think that she only picked Ed because he was a sure thing?? And honestly, when she said, “Ed, you better not F…ing dissappoint me”…I don’t think it was necessarily about a diamond for her finger. This is a 2 way street…he could have said, “you know, I really like you and all…but gee, I’m just not sure about this relationship.” Anyway, Ed was my pick for her WAYYYYY early on. The other guys interviewed said that the day that Ed left, she was REALLY upset and stayed in her room all day. Now, would a girl cry her eyes out for a guy that she didn’t see as a potential F1???
First time reader (today)…you totally crack me up. Everything was ridiculously true and found myself thinking the same thoughts during the show last night. I am definitely promoting myself to President of Team Reid and am in the process of writing a non-stalker, non-weird, non-lame “Dear ABC, hook me up with Reid” letter. Any thoughts on how to accomplish that?

And I actually think Jillian and Ed are good for one another. He wouldn’t be my top choice but hey-oh that’s why I’m not on reality tv!

Since we’re all geared up for ATFR, just wanted to remind y’all that Jillian will also be on Good Morning America tomorrow morning. I just set my DVR!
I love Ed and all of his adorable mouth twitches. As I posted right after the proposal, I also love that he told Jillian as he proposed, “I want you to give me a HARD TIME when we’re 80 years old.” Oh, that was a classic line for the guy with the E.D. monkey on his back. And somewhere in Scranton, PA, Michael Scott was saying, “That’s what she said.”
I did crack up that immediately after Ed professes his love, Jillian reals back, swings her LEFT arm back and forth and practically shoves it in his face before he makes it all the way down on his knee!! Also noticed she was all bouncy when she said “Absolutely!” to his proposal, but when they flashed right to the ring being put on her finger, she was very still…obviously had to do a few takes! But I still love the outcome!!
Also, for you Ed lovers…cutest Ed expression EVER was after Jillian asks him to accept the rose (which I always think is soooo L-A-M-E at this point in the game). He like looks up in the sky, squints his eyes tight in some kind of “pinch me” moment. He genuinely seems very happy that he was “the chosen one”. Adorable!

#114 – Mari – I agree “aboot” Kip. I have not been a huge fan. Great abs – no doubt! But those ears and that terrible kissing *ugh*! However, last night when he was in the limo — post break up — he looked like a little boy and it was very appealing. I think it was a vulnerability that he hadn’t shown during the season.

1) I liked both Ed and Reid. I think Jilly made a good choice for herself – she and Ed seem so natural together. Reid, dude, a day late and a dollar short, the early bird gets the worm, and all that stuff. Besides, as much as I like Jilly, you’re probably better off, don’t you think?

Jillian seemed very genuine, and I think her concern about how Kiptyn and Reid are doing is sincere.
Ed was definitely more relaxed and less stiff (no, that is not a reference to his E.D.!) than he has been recently, and they truly seem very, very happy and in love, so I’m happy for them. Maybe they will be the next success story. I hope so!

Except the ring was gawdawful. I think they should have the Bach’ette pick and make two of the same ring or something. Because some seasons, these men have no clue.
Two things: I assumed Reid was referring to his time with Jill in the fantasy suite. As in, he wanted to ask how things could have been so awesome between them and then have her reject him. He decided not to ask after hearing from Jill that she really had no doubts and he thought it would be inappropriate with Ed backstage.
Second– When do they tape ATFR? I ask because those pics someone posted in a link above show Jill, Ed, Reid, Jesse, and Juan all together and yucking it up, posing for goofy pics, and Jill flashing the ring. It says it’s a “viewing party”… I assume it’s a viewing of the final episode… so was the ATFR really the “first chance they had to see each other since that last day in Hawaii”??
JennX – Well, since the ATFR isn’t live, and the final episode was YESTERDAY, doesn’t that automatically tell you that they taped it before the final episode, so it really was the first time they saw each other? Seems kind of obvious to me, no offense.
But umm, I know they taped the MTA two days before the episode where Reid was let go, so the 11th, so my guess is they taped ATFR the next weekend. But I’ll check Hare’s twitter to see if he ever mentioned it.
All I can say is that I am so happy that I’ll never have to watch Jillian and Kiptyn kiss again. Ick.
I think Ed got a bad edit, at least from the time he got back until the next-to-last episode. He was pretty normal seeming in the final episode, and a very adorable drunk (from the MTA). As I’ve said…he’s a cutie. She done good, y’all. Yay Jillian!
They taped it a few weeks ago…so this was their first time that the public has seen them together. They get to be with each other alone in the last couple of months.

Definitely think the editors had their way with Ed (as I’m sure they did with all the guys!). I was pretty “meh” on Ed all season – neither loved him nor hated him. But I freaking loved him in the ATFR tonight! He was cute and funny and sarcastic – surely that’s what Jillian must have seen the entire time. I wouldn’t even be surprised if they threw in the E.D. reference to throw us off some and get us talking, in addition to orchestrating the leave and comeback.
Reid is such a doll, but to be honest, I don’t really want him for the next Bachelor. They always seem to ruin my opinion of my favorites (DeAnna, then Jason, then Jillian – all of whom I LOVED as contestants, and then couldn’t stand as headliners). Reid is good enough to make it in the real world, IMO (as evidenced by all the ladies talking about wanting to move to Philly!

Hi all, I dont post much but do enjoy reading all the posts. I am probably being very naive, but you all think that Jillian actually slept with all the 3 remaining guys. I’ve always wondered about the “fantasy suite” just how far they would go.
While Reid is adorable, he came off almost a little bit cocky last night. I think that might just be that he’s socially awkward, though, and not really very good with words. But I still love him! My grandma called me mid ATFR just to tell me how good looking she thought Reid was. It was precious!

Two things. First of all, WHY did Jillian let Kip spill his guts and not stop him? I was so afraid he was going to get down on one knee. Typically it’s the ‘star’ of the show who does all the talking at the FRC while the other waits in suspense. Why is it that everytime it’s the Bachelorette, the girls stand there mute and let the guys babble on?
Secondly, since when did the show start letting the happy couple spend the entire summer together before the finale aired? They used to be limited to one or two phone calls during that time. Ed and Jill acted like they’d been together the entire time. How did that not leak out?
And by the way, I have a marquis diamond and LOVE it. I like pear-shaped ones too. I must be weird….
Reid came across very bitter and passive-aggressive last night–the crack about the fantasy suite? Really, Reid? Did you need to go there? When he said that, I watched all the remaining love drain right from Jillian’s face and I could almost hear her thinking “I SOO made the right decision!”.
Love me some Ed, they were so cute! I love how he kept sneaking little cheek and head kisses while they were watching themselves, and I so love how he called her a dolphin! They seem really real to me and I hope those crazy kids make it. I feel more confident about them than some of the others, especially since they seem to have spent so much time together and they have real concrete plans for moving forward. Go Team Ed!
I just read Jillian’s blog. She really seems happy. I hope it works out for both of them. I do think that there was a lot that we didn’t see on their “amazing journey”. It seems to me that they really are suited for each other. Look at the picture that was posted. They both have the same crazy smile on their face. (super cute) I didn’t get to watch the AFTFR last night becasue it was on late, and I was dead tired. I’ll be watching it tonight though.
I did however turn on “More to Love”. The show was awful. I turned it off 30 minutes in. I couldn’t help myself initially, because I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. You know how that put up the names and ages for everyone on the bach/bachette? They put up the guy’s, and girls’ height and weight. Truly tacky! I felt bad because some of these girls were already crying while they were doing their interviews. This show is going to be a train wreck, but not in the same way as the bachelor.
JennX — I agree. I took Reid’s comment about the fantasy suite date to refer to HIS night with Jillian — not Ed’s. I think Reid is absolutely adorable. Wish I was young and single and could hop a plane to Philly…
Mallory: I apologize for not being the master of tracking the timing of all things Bachelorette that you seem to be. FYI, when people say “no offense,” it’s usually because they’ve just thrown a barbed insult that is only made worse by the disclaimer they add on at the end. But… ya know… NO OFFENSE.

Two comments:
1) Of course Reid was talking about HIS night in the fantasy suite with Jillian. I never thought otherwise when he brought it up.
2) Abs? What are abs…….who cares! The main body part I was interested in in my dating years (I’m married now) was the heart (both his and mine)…and whether there was any love in it.
I found it odd that some people thought Reid was rude and bitter last night. I just kept thinking that he was handling it all very respectfully. It was obvious he is still upset about losing Jillian. He didn’t plague her with questions like OHCH was prodding him to do. And his question about the fantasy suite, i think was probably about their night together. And honestly, the blood should drain from her face when she thinks about sleeping with 3 guys in 3 nights.
#203 Kimberly—I agree! How does that work anyways…..wonder how hard it must be to explain to the #1 guy that just the night before you slept with the #2 guy and last week you slept with the #3 guy…….yikes!!!
Now, I know that The Bachelor/ette franchise as a whole has never exactly been respectful of women; I’ve managed to talk myself around it for years because I enjoy the show so much. But does anyone else feel like the producers’ hijinks this season were just too disrespectful of Jillian and her well-being?
Obviously, the whole Wes thing was out of control. I know it is the producers’ “policy” not to tell the Bachelor/ette what goes on when they are not there, but that was unnecessarily drawn out. To allow Jillian to be fooled by this guy for that long without intervening smacks of hunger for ratings and disregard for Jillian’s self esteem to me.
The Reid Return last night also seemed to me to be less than kind. Jill’s standing on the podium expecting her “future husband” to come and instead she gets that emotional baggage thrown at her with the expectation to figure it all out in ten minutes? What kind of life decision is that?
Not to mention that the last time I recall a female contestant returning was Gold Digger Trish on Jesse’s season and she was portrayed as some crazy b**** for coming back. Meanwhile we’ve got some sort of revolving door for the men on this season.
And I don’t think I even need to mention the “E.D.” fiasco. Why that was even filmed, much less broadcast, much much less with all its wink-wink-nudge-nudge implications, is beyond me. That’s just completely embarrassing for everyone involved.
This was really the first Bachelorette season I’ve watched in its entirety, so maybe I was just missing all this business before. Maybe the franchise has gotten to the point where the producers feel they have to pull all sorts of “dramatic” tricks to keep our interest. And I will fully admit that perhaps I’m reading too much into a stupid TV show. But I can’t imagine all these things being done to a past Bachelor. The willingness to manipulate Jillian’s feelings in the name of “helping” her find true love throughout the season was just so disingenuous and disrespectful to me. Am I alone?
Of course, this is not to say that I’m ever going to stop watching. My life would be so hollow without this blog!
#203 & 204–I just think he threw that out there so that folks would be talking about what we all assume that he meant, which is that he and Jill did the deed. Tacky and passive aggressive and tried to make Jill look like a slut. I just contrast Reid’s attitude with Kiptyn’s and they were world’s apart. I sat there with my mouth open when he said that I and I was stunned. I really liked Reid throughout the season and chalked up other “bratty” moments (i.e. the whining about not getting a rose on country/western date) as just a bad moment. When I saw his “Diary of the Departed” video yesterday and his behavior last night and combined that with the other stuff, I saw an entitled brat with a passive aggressive streak.
Obviously these things are all in the eye of the beholder, though, and you guys didn’t see what I saw and I am cool with that, too

Lincee- Welcome back!! Your friends did an amazing job in your absence but I think I speak for everyone here, we missed you. Girl, you need to get your priorities straight, choosing a mission trip over the Bachelorette’s most dramatic last 5 minutes in a season finale? Where was that by the way? Too many priceless comments to list here, if I had to pick a favorite (the one that had coffee going up my nose) it would have to be “Granny is bouncing the pool boy on her lap”, I could totally picture it!!
#164 – I’m with you. Ever since I saw Ed walking out of hotel in Canada after he told J he was leaving, there is a scene of him walking and, trust me, his loafers never touch the ground. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, just seems very effeminate to me. I wish my hips swung like that, I wouldn’t be single right now.
#177- There was talk on another blog that the ATFR was taped last Friday 7/24 in Los Angeles. I don’t know how no one saw Ed and Jillian together or, if they were seen, how no rumors got out.
I thought Reid was hot last night and the closeness they had would appeal to me more than the closeness I saw with Jillian and Ed. When it was down to Kip and Ed, the kissing situation would have had me turning down poor Kippie every time. I feel like drawing him a diagram of a face, with a large arrow pointing to lips and a sign reading “kiss here”. As for the abs, I am only counting 8, I looked long and close for number 9, I think if the shorts had been lower slung, we would have seen numbers 9 and likely 10, who knows. Time will tell but I don’t think I could watch a whole season of him kissing girls, hope he is not the new Bachelor. Bring on the new blood.

Don’t most guys have one or two outfits their gfriend/wife is embarrassed by (mankini and tank) but ultimately come to love cuz it is just so them. Maybe that is just me and my hubby’s hideous purple 80′s workout pants he still sports to make me laugh (and he does wear BOXER BRIEFS, too!).

I don’t think that Kitpyn was ever into Jillian, hence it was easy for him to remain dignified after the rejection. But Reid really put himself out there by showing up at the FRC after being rejected. So I don’t hold anything against Reid if people think he came off as bitter, since Jill thought it necessary to explain how HAPPY she was and how PERFECTLY things turned out for her, right after we see the pain of rejection on Reid’s face. Then she actually goes on to comment that she and Ed can’t get enough of each other in the bedroom – completely tacky!!

I think Reid was still pretty hurt and just trying to process what went where..and I’m sure he had all these thoughts and questions in his head of what he wanted to ask but then being in that situation and you see the person’s reaction to how things are now, and the realization hits you. It would make no sense to ask or do all of what you wanted to when it’s all done and moving forward. Although I thinik the editing may have been a little weird since he asked the overnight question after saying she’s chosen Ed there’s nothing for him to say, yet she was pushing him to keep talking. I think she seemed a little bummed he didn’t want to keep reassuring her that he was sooo into her and hurt she let him go since she keep asking him or telling him this was their chance to say this and that. It’s different when you are on the happy end (even if it hurts you that you hurt someone), but you have someone else…and they don’t and are still getting over you. They don’t want to rehash it all b/c you each have a different reaction to it.
I think that makes sense.
#218–in Jill’s defense, she was ASKED that question, she didn’t just volunteer it. And frankly, if some tv show had made out my beloved to look like he was a disappointment in the bedroom, I would be trying to put that to rest, too. Also, I thought it was kind of her to explain to Reid that she was in love with someone else–that kind of thing brings closure, so he can know that it wouldn’t have mattered if he did something differently, it was not his fault. And finally, this show was supposed to be about Jillian and Ed, so for them to downplay their happiness to spare Reid’s feelings, well that’s just silly. There are always hurt feelings on this show, and just because folks happened to like Reid doesn’t mean that the show’s dynamic should change to try to make him feel better. He got dumped. So did Jason, Jeremy, Deanna, Jenni, Sadie, Krisily, etc. I didn’t see the Bach/ette bending over backward to downplay their happiness to salve their wounds and I don’t see why this should be any different.
The only reason I watch the Bachelor shows is so that I can read Lincee’s blog! I honestly would not watch the show anymore if Lincee ever gave this up. The highlight of my week is getting to sit down on Tuesday afternoon, turn the phones off, bag of Doritos and a Diet Coke and read the recap. It really is the funniest thing on the internet! I am always so sad to see the season end as I know it will be long drought until we get to read more Lincee. Can you please get hooked on another show and recap it!! I don’t care what show, I’ll watch it!
Now the real reason, I am commenting. Reid and Lincee!! There is a match made in heaven!! I fell in love with Reid as well and was so disappointed that Jill did not pick him. But I believe that it is all for the best as the perfect match has got to be Reid and Lincee! Lincee, you would be excellent at selling real estate! Think, you could write all the property descriptions, and they would be amazing! Come on, this could really work!
I wasn’t going to watch the ATFR show but after reading all of the comments I decided I really should. I’m a big Reid fan and was curious about the different reactions to his behavior on the show. Well, I still love the guy. He was in pain and that explains everything. I was never an Ed fan but there is no denying Jillian and Ed are very happy together. So, I wish them the best. I hope all of the ugly rumors floating around about Ed are false. I’m still a Jillian fan and hope her business is a success in Chicago.

The rumor was that Ed had a girlfriend back home, and that when he left the show, he was really going to either break it off or be with her again (I’ve heard both as the reason). When he came back, there was a rumor that he had sent the other girl an e-mail saying they’d be back together once the show was done.
I think ABC’s lava explosion shot made up for their lack of green shorts handling.
I was horrified when Ed described the happy game he and Jillian play, with Ed placing heavy rocks in a swimming pool and Jillian swimming down to retrieve them “like a little dolphin.” Was that a reference to her squeals? Ed has not worn well through the weeks of this show. I wonder how she will like him in six months?
I can’t find the voting for the next bachelor!!! Help!
I’ve always been on Team Reid, but his comeback seemed so contrived. Either the producers whipped it up entirely and “made” him do it, or they told him that Jillian said she was regretting her decision and might take him back. His heart didn’t seem in in the whole thing, and it felt kind of fake/awkward. Especially the “proposal” where we didn’t even hear him technically say “Will you marry me?” And why no shot of the ring, I wonder? This show is to feed our superficial anti-feminist sides, is it not?? Anyway, the situation was weird. I think they only hugged like that because they were both awkward and holding on to each other closely meant they didn’t have to make eye contact or talk. And what was with his outfit and the minivan? Were they trying to make him look ridiculous? Still love Reid, though. I just wish he hadn’t come back.
I was in utter shock when Ed chose that pear-shaped ring. WHAT? Although someone mentioned that maybe Jillian was able to “okay” the ring choices before the guys picked? I sure hope so, because man. What a tacky 1980s ring (in my opinion).
I don’t know how I feel about all this. I’ve heard the rumors about Ed having a girlfriend and while I would believe this, how are we to know it’s true? If so, I’m sure Jillian has heard all about that long ago and addressed it with him, and IF it is true, then unfortunately I imagine they are just pretending to be happy now before an inevitable breakup, or else she’s struggling to ignore the issue and it will only catch up with her later.
Finally, I cannot believe they really, really did the lava shot. That was so inexcusable, embarrassing, stupid, and crass. Exactly why I watch this show, my friends.
Whoops, I forgot to add the part the horrifies me – he crowed that he had told her he’d pay her “fifty bucks” to retrieve the rocks and that was why she tried so hard. Though she clearly wants a man she can push around and her mother wears the “pantz” (can’t figure out how to type in that Canadian pronunciation), I think she is well on her way to catering to Ed and he to ordering her around. That ugly pear shaped ring may have given him the “pantz” after all.

Saggleo, I have been fervently reading every word, laughing my head off at Lincee, loving that Jill picked Ed (he was my fave from their first one-on-one conversation at a rose ceremony drink-off), and am now depressed that we are facing a dry spell until Lincee’s Bachelor blog starts up again.
I felt awful for both Jillian and Reid on the finale. I knew Reid was coming back from the previews, but did not realize that TPTB would spring him on Jill at the Proposal Moat. I was yelling at the TV, “How can you do this to Jillian? How can you do this to Reid?” The poor girl was already drained from dumping Kiptyn, and was looking forward to her proposal… then she had to twist that knife into Reid again. I felt awful for both of them. I believe her hesitation that day was because she didn’t have the strength to kick him again, but was forced to.
And last night, it almost seemed as if Reid still felt he could revive the spark right there on the ATFR couch! Thanks #116 for posting the link to the photos… Reid obviously recovered!

Finally understood last night why Jillian always has her feet on the furniture. I wasn’t a fan of the dress or her hair-do. She looked kind of dumpy and bland. Her hair was a mess, like she needed to brush it or something.
#245 – The hair! I almost forgot! It was too many extensions…they didh’t look right! Her natural hair is fine…they tried to do too much w/ whatever look they tried to go for – it didn’t work well to me either.
I didn’t mind her dress so much, I don’t think. Seemed to fit her well…although I think she’s worn better dresses/outfits.
Oh and Melissa looked a lot less TAN!!! I was trying to wonder why she looked so different and fresh looking! then they showed the old clip and it was clear! No orange tint! MUCH BETTER!!!

@ saggleo- OMG! yes! I was talking to my grandma, and I was like, “Did Mel have work done, she looks amazing?” And she said, “I think her makeup is just lighter and her hair is down and done nice.” But that’s it! No fake orange!
And to those of you who watched More to Love- did anyone else think it was nearly unwatchable? I did for many reasons, especially the fact that Emme can’t hold a candle to our Hare!
I loved the blog but must make one comment about it. I totally disagree about the ring. It was gorgeous! I have a pear shaped ring and I asked for one because it reminds me of all the tears that got me through to the most amazing man ever. I wondered at the time if in any of their conversations Ed asked her what her choice would be because not many men pick out that style. Once again, I love it and I think Jillian did too!

I don’t remember who posted about how they have the height and weight of the contestants versus their age and where they are from…that’s just crap! Only thing the Fox Channel gets my love on is So You Think You Can Dance – and this season is really borning so I’m surprised I’m still hanging on to it this long. lol

#249 – I don’t knock the pear shape it’s just not my style, but I saw the pic on people and it’s not that bad but it is quite busy for my taste. There’s baguettes (sp?) and rounds etc…that’s a lot of business going on and not even a wedding band yet.
I think Melissa has also gone a little lighter on the tweezing/waxing of her eyebrows. They seemed a little more filled in on the ends, which gave her face a better shape, I think. The lack of Oompa Lompa orange helped, too!
Oh yeah – the brows were done different! Although I like the shape she had on DWTS better… I know…I notice a lot of detail in those little clips they showed! lol
that reminds me, I need an eyebrow wax…

I have no standout favorite this season as they all seem to be on the same even keel kind of… some of have their moments but no one has a real performance performrance quality like others have in the past on this show. I’m surprised there haven’t been any comments regarding the dress she wore last night. I didn’t think it was that flattering compared to dresses she’s worn in the past. And I thought her face looked different, but couldn’t put my finger on exactly what.
#260- I think she filled out. Now that she is not in the running for 10+ guys or being shot in a bikini every episode, she’s back to a healthy weight. I have not been a fan of her style the whole season, so obviously I disliked her dress last night. Her hair too….
I felt that OHCH was badgering Reid the whole time. “Do you regret this, do you wish you did, do you wish you didnt, if you could go back would you do this, why do you think…” like leave the poor guy alone. Jillian did a horrible job answering his questions too. I think that’s why he was like I have a bunch more but I’m not going to ask..pointless to.
It also seemed like J made up her mind about Ed a long time ago. Like even before he left to “work”. I know she still had to “pretend” to like the other guys, but to sleep with them AND lead them on as much as much as she did knowing all along that she would pick Ed. I think that’s what Reid weas trying to get at when talking about the FS. Why would you sleep with me if you already knew you were in love with Ed?
One more thing…exactly what strings did Reid have to pull?? “We didn’t want to play with Jillian’s emotions”-Chris’ blog. Reid coming back is a producer’s dream!! Just like Jake and Ed…etc. They didn’t mention giving up their first born to come back like Reid did…give me a break!

#260, 261 – I think you’re right…she’s gained a little bit of weight back…however, girlfriend needed to put on a pound or two! She admitted somewhere that she was just run ragged and didn’t get enough to eat during this whole time. Lack of sleep and a crazy work/eating schedule can take it’s toll on you. Apparently Jilly Bean has finally gotten to fill up on her pepperoni!
Remember how different DeYawnna looked when she came back for ATFR? She looked like she had gained about 15 lbs!!

As far as the Fantasy Suites go, I prefer to think “innocent until proven guilty.”
If you re-watch the show, there is no proof that “anything” happens, and there is no proof that “anything” does not happen.
So I just assume I will never know, it is between the two of them (as it should be) and hope and imagine that they all take the ‘high road’ in that regard. Because when you think about it, anything more intimate would just complicate the decision-making process more.

Way late to the game… but finally got caught up. I loved Reid… but I think Ed was always her choice. I think she knew that in her heart and while the others were a distraction, he was always the one.
And I LOVED that they said they had spent all the time since the finale together (minus 5 days or something short like that). I think this actually gives them a fighting chance. I’d love to see this work out for real!
