I think that is my absolute favorite Ellen moment. And I watch her show (via dvr) every day. I still love the days she talks to Gladys. I want Gladys to be my grandma.
Chickpea Said,
AWESOME! I love Ellen but hadn’t seen that – thanks Lincee!!! )
Micah Said,
That is AWESOME!!! LOL!!!
Molly Said,
THANKS Lincee!
CeeCee Said,
I love Jesus and I drink a little too! Love Gladys!!! She is hot stuff!!!
Andrea Said,
I happened to be home a couple years ago when this first aired. Hilarious. And she still occasionally calls Miss Gladys to check in on her and the follow-up calls have been just as funny.
My husband loves to quote Gladys from that clip. That is definitely one funny moment!
Leslie from Austin Said,
There was some discussion here in Austin as to who Gladys actually was. It was on one of the local news stations soon after this played. People didn’t know if she was for real or if she was actually a comedian playing a part. I think either way, her talk with Ellen was genuine and not planned. Some people thought she was on of the local comedians from Greater Tuna (which is kinda what I thought because she sounds just like him). I think someone even started a website about “Who is Gladys”.
Anyway, either way, comedian or grandma, Gladys is hilarious and one of my favorite Ellen moments also.
Joy Said,
OMG, that just made my day!!
Jodi Said,
My all time fave moment with my friend Ellen. Still makes me laugh til I cry!!!
Lincee that is hilarious!! Did you know Gladys has her own website and blog?? It’s http://www.gladyshardy.com – apparently she really is a real person. Too funny!!
It’s most likely a comedy troop here in Austin that collaborates for Gladys – they think it’s one of the Greater Tuna guys – thus the website, the phone calls and a MySpace page- do you really think Gladys could manage her own website and MySpace page??? http://urbangrounds.com/2007/01/ellen-calls-gladys-in-austin/
Carrie Said,
One of my favorite moments as well! So good in fact, that back in the day one of my college roommates had this put on coozies and handed them out as graduation gifts. Gotta love it. Thanks for sharing this little gem!
I LOVE that clip of Gladys!! And she’s right…during that ice storm, the Austin news was ridiculous…it was like the world was coming to an end over some ice and five snowflakes. and they showed nothing but the news for 3 days straight! the only thing there was to do was to play drinking games while watching the news…that’s probably what SHE was doing!
Maybe Gladys can be a guest blogger for a Bach episode next season….do it via video….Lincee an Gladys…sure to be comic genius….i’m just sayin’
Love this!! Thanks for sharing…
This is one of the funiest things I’ve ever seen. Thanks for sharing.
check out this great Ellen highlight…
