So I went to the Jackopierce acoustic concert (awesome) last night and had every intention of going to the midnight showing of New Moon.
But I was too tired after the show ended. And I went to the early one. How sad is that?
I know. I’m a bad fan. I do have advanced tickets to join all the tweens and their mothers after work, so never fear, I will continue my Harry Potter and Twilight Saga tradition of seeing the new films on opening weekend.
I’m actually getting a bit nervous about it though. I hear it’s really bad acting. Fortunately…I have no problem with bad acting or movies that don’t encourage me to think on a deep level. (I’m sure if you checked out the DVDs I have in my collection, you probably would come to that conclusion on your own.) But I’m going to persevere for this reason alone:
Have I ever mentioned that I’m Team Jacob?
Anyway…
I figured we all needed a place to share our feelings about the movie. Sound off below and let me know if you liked it in an “oh-my-awesomeness” way, or if you knew it would be lame and you are just embracing the cheese because that’s your nature. Have fun!
I am glad to see American adults embracing their “inner nerd.” I’ve always been a nerd – welcome to the party.
I am one of the mothers that will have my tween (and her best friend) at a showing tomorrow. I’m actually more excited than she is, I think. My 12 year old daughter actually called me “insane” this morning as I was jumping up and down in the kitchen begging her to do the same with me. TEAM JACOB!!!!
As far as the bad acting, that’s to be expected. The first one was full of that. I don’t care, the wolf pack is what I’m there to see!!!!!!!
Om My Awesomeness! That is some intense acting…and as cheesy as that is and Twilight was…I still have every intention of seeing all of these movies in the theatres with the screaming teenagers…along with my other 30 something friends! I embrace the guilty pleasure that is teen highschool vampire/werewolf/witch entertainment – I include Twilight, Harry Potter and now, sadly (or happily!) Vampire Diaries! I expect some more New Moon entries before yoru month of blogging is over! :0)
A real-life conversation between my cousin and I…
Cousin: So, what do you think about the Twilight books? Should I read them?
Me: I think they are badly written, angsty, emo, teenage, vampire drama.
Fortunately I happen to really like badly written, angsty, emo, teenage, vampire drama.
I fear that I have such high expectations for the movie, based on the book and Taylor’s hotness, that I might be disappointed. I so hope not, though! =.) I will be enjoying the bad acting tonight with three other 26 year old women, and we’re all SUPER excited! =.) TEAM JACOB…how can you like the pasty vampire after looking at Jacob? Enjoy whenever you get the chance to see the movie! =.)
Two words come to mind when I see Taylor Lautner in his “oh my awesomeness”…..JAIL BAIT…then I realize that when I was 17, guys just didn’t look like that so I wipe up the miniscule drool, slap myself and repeat…JAIL BAIT…good grief, he’s young enough to be my kid.
I’m getting out of work early today so I invited a couple of co-workers to go see it while the kiddies are in school. Will let you guys know if it’s thumbs up or down. I’m not goo-goo ga-ga over any of the actors in it, it’s entertaining to me though. I do think Kristen whats-her-face is kind of a lame actress though. Here’s what I’ve heard so far: the cinematography (sp?) is MUCH better than the last one, looks less fake, etc. Both friends who saw the midnight showing said it was great. I honestly haven’t heard anything bad thus far (i.e. friend’s facebook statuses, etc.).
Well, I saw the movie at midnight last night. I must say the acting wasn’t as cheesy as it was in Twilight, but it does have its moments. The Taylor Lautner trailers, don’t do him justice. I mean, seriously?? Wow. Again, it is much better than Twilight and a lot more believable.
I embrace the cheese. I know it will be cheesy but don’t care. My 13 year old and I will be there this weekend. She is Team Edward to the core, I am Team Hot Guy (meaning at 40 years old I just like to look at the hot young guys and dream about when I was younger, is that creepy?). And you are absolutely right, Debbie, 17 year old guys DID NOT look like that when I was young.
I know I embrace cheesiness because I spent four hours of my life this weekend watching Sixteen Candles… twice. Love It!!!!!
Totally Team Jacob. I say go for the ‘visual effects’ alone! Who cares if the acting is no good!
I generally embrace cheesiness so I will be seeing this movie. However, I must say I was a little put off at the fact that poor little Taylor is just that…”little”. Serioulsy! I think I could break that kid like a twig! I get that Jerry Rice is a big football player…but c’mon…Jay Leno has to be normal size like 5′11″ and he was TOWERING Taylor.
I saw it at midnight and honestly was a little disappointed, but then again my expectations were very high. The acting was terrible, especially Kristen Stewart, watching her in the movies and in interviews she’s exactly the same; no smile, no quick wit, nothing, just there. It’s definite redeeming qualities are the wolf pack (I think Taylor Lautner should be shirtless ALWAYS) and Jessica, they definitely give us some laughs. I am looking forward to your thoughts Lincee!
I, myself, will probably not be seeing New Moon until it comes out on DVD. I was greatly disappointed in Twilight. The movie didn’t do the book justice. Although it did give us Robert Pattenson (and for that I thank them). #12 KT- I agree with you that Kristen Stewart is a terrible actress. Just poor casting there. I’ll admit that Jacob is hot but I am still team Edward all the way!!
I must admit that I was far more fascinated on this post with the fact that Jackopiece is still performing than the cheeiness of the New Moon cast’s acting skills!! I loved, loved, loved JP and went to every concert they played in Lawrence when I was in college, just Jack and Cary on their guitars rocking it out. I still even have my original concert t-shirts packed away – for some reason I just can’t give them up yet. Then they had to go all “mainstream” on the fans and added a bass player and drums and lost all their awesomeness. So to hear that they are still playing accoustic sessions is the best news ever. I am Googling their tour schedule immediately.
Oh-my-AWESOMENESS!!!! Went and saw it this morning at 10:30 at the Northeast Mall in Hurst. All the crazy women went nuts. So much fun and Taylor could be a Greek god. It seems like Kristen Stewart got some acting lessons, still not great but much better than in Twilight.
Jacob has a 10 pack. I counted.
Are you sure it’s not a 9 pack SC???
5 rows of tightly sculpted abs. Lol!
I admit that I went to see New Moon this morning after dropping my kids off at school. I did go with 4 other friends. We all thought that is was much better than Twilight. Of course, it is by no means an Oscar-worthy movie. But we all thought that the acting was much, much better. Although I am totally for Edward, it was really nice to see Jacob’s 9 pack. Lots of moms swooning in the audience!
I saw it this morning and I thought the acting was better than in Twilight. I was pretty happy with the movie and New Moon is my least favorite book. It will make the fans happy!
Wow, I haven’t heard anyone mention Jackopierce in such a long time. I used to see them play at Ziggy’s in Winston-Salem, NC in college often! What a great memory you just brought back. Thanks for all the blogging this month, Lincee, I have thoroughly enjoyed it – I’m a fan from way back in the email days. Keep it up – you have such talent!
I am more excited about hearing that Jackopierce is performing again than Jacob and his 10 pack! I thought they broke up years ago. Thanks Lincee!
Team Jacob all the way……like a friend of mine said, “Real men don’t sparkle”. Just sayin’
Okay, so I didn’t read the book because I heard it was awful, and I thought the movie was complete cheese!! I can’t count how many times I said “Really, they just said that?” throughout the movie. I wasn’t a fan of Dakota Fanning’s acting, and some of the camera shots made me sick. Bella needs to learn how to talk, because every time she opens her mouth, it sounds like she’s hurting!
But it was all made better with Jacob running around with his shirt off most of the movie!! He just should not have cut his hair.
Now I was on a completely different team after the first movie – Team Jasper. But he looked HORRIBLE in this movie.
Haven’t seen it yet, but I am already planning on seeing it twice because I totally embrace the cheese and the lameness of it all. Bad acting? So much the better! Teenage angst is SO entertaining.
Going to see it tomorrow with 6 other mom friends. Yes, I am mid-forties and Team whoever has their Shirt Off.
Saw the private screening on Wednesday, I have an unhealthy obsession with a 17 year old. Annnnd I’m going to see it again tonight, pathetic
I used to be team edward… still am for the books, but as far as NEW MOON goes! I am captain of Team Jacob!!! Jacob is a little more than half my age… but he is so frickin’ hot I felt like I was 17. Can’t wait for your write-up.
It is 10:15pm on Friday night and I just got back from the movie theatre….OH MY AWESOMENESS!!!!!! I loved this movie…..I am still sooooo Team Edward. I love the love story. But yes, Jacob was mighty nice to look at! I have to see it again…..this series to me is like Mamma Mia! I have to see it over and over and over; read the books over and over and over. Yes!!! Fantastic!
Is the actor who plays Jacob the same kid who was in Sharkboy and Lavagirl?!? My kids have that movie memorized. I remember the first time I saw that kid I thought he was gonna be gorgeous when he grew up- but I had NO IDEA he would turn into THAT!!!!! Admittedly, the whole “Twilight”. genre bores me so I’m unfamiliar with all of it. Sorry! But now I do understand the frenzy if that is what they show on a big screen! Wow!
New Moon was very cheesy and slow for the first 3/4 (I giggled at how cheesy it was numerous times), but then got really good towards the end. I’m Team Edward in the books, but I have to admit I’m Team Jacob for this movie!! Hottie hotness, especially after he cuts his hair. The best way to see this film is at theater that serves booze and food – no screaming teenagers.
Love Twilight, love Edward, put up with Jacob, and I was there screaming in my Forks t-shirt with everyone else last night when the movie started! It was greatness and I loved it! Cheesy? Yep, but I’ve accepted my nerdiness and enjoyed every second! Got home and downloaded the Twilight Saga to my Kindle and can’t wait to reread Eclipse to get ready for the next movie! Love me so Edward…mmmm…
Saw it. LOVED IT!!! Every second!! Honestly, it was so good at sticking close to the books that I didn’t feel cheated at all!! (Did a little bit after the Twilight movie…) The acting was MUCH better and I didn’t feel a loss of Edward as they gave us much more Edward/Bella interaction in the beginning than I was expecting! AND they added in a lot more humor – not true to the book, but it was primarily with the humans, so who cares? The Jessica character was hysterical, and who doesn’t feel bad for “Mike”? Jacob was great, yes, and the almost-kissing tension was FANTASTIC, but my hearts still belongs to Edward. His “shirt off” scene did pretty much nothing for me, but it doesn’t matter because his character is just so great. Love him. LOVED THE ENDING! Am I too into this? Oh yea, and loving it.
I haven’t finished reading New Moon yet so I am going to wait for the DVD. Just wanted to comment that here in Hawaii the first showing was at FOUR A.M.! Yes, that’s right: 4:00 in the morning! Unreal.
After reading Twilight and seeing the movie, I am Team Edward. Somehow it’s just creepy for me to be Team Jacob knowing I’m old enough to be Taylor Lautner’s mom (I’m 41). OK, so I’m technically old enough to be Robert Pattinson’s mother as well, but at least he’s of legal age.
Oh, and CeeCee? Taylor Lautner *is* Sharkboy! My 8 year old loves that movie and I never made the connection. Good eye!
