Thank you. Thankyouverymuch.

I couldn’t let the day go by without mentioning the late, great Elvis Presley. He would have been 75-years-old today.

My Mama LOVES Elvis Presley. In honor of her being his biggest fan, I’ve included her favorite Elvis moment of all time.

The King + a tight, white bedazzled jumpsuit + the cool instrumental opening + Hawaii = GREATNESS!

I have always been an “Elvis” man. The King passed away right around the time yours truly was conceived, and I am born 9 months later with all of this panache and style and sex appeal. Spiritual transmutation or mere coincidence?

    The debate rages on…

  2. sc Said,

ah. He was an army guy too. Coincidence?

  3. trish Said,

He was born in my hometown, Tupelo. Glad to hear he lives on and on – I don’t think anyone will ever be able to fill out that jumpsuit again!

  4. SGT Cole Said,

The King was in the army – as a cavalry scout. Same job as the Panda!

In all seriousness, Elvis is my number one favorite performer. When I had my MRI on my shoulder, the docs had satallite radio and let me listen to the “All Elvis Channel” during the procedure.

I’m just glad all that energy didn’t melt the machine down.

  5. Shopgirl Said,

Grew up listening to Elvis and loved going to the Sunday afternoon matinees at the Marshall Square Theater in Chicago to see “Viva Las Vegas,” “Girls, Girls, Girls,” “Roustabout,” “Spinout” and the rest. Even though many of them were cheesy and predictable, if there is an Elvis movie on TV now, I have to stop and watch.

  6. My Awesomeness Said,

Okay, I know that Elvis was “before” my time, but I still think he was an awesome singer, and when he was younger you could tell he loved music and was having fun. I still listen to many of his songs…in spite of the fact that many of them had really poor production – the quality of his voice was just great.

  7. Debbie Said,

    # 5 Shopgirl – what about Blue Hawaii and Fun in Acapulco?? I was all of nearly 10 when he died…but to this day I will watch most of his cheesy movies. Such a sad end to an amazing talent.

  8. Kathy Said,

Awww thanks for posting Lincee. Elvis will aways be the King!

  9. jeneva jean Said,

Lincee- I know exactly the number, the suit, etc. my momma is the same abt big E. me, too.

Sprach Zarathrusta(sp?) 2001:Space Odyssey theme is the musical intro… the white jumpsuit is the Phoenix rising, which he threw the cape into the audience at the end, and its the Aloha from Hawaii concert… my favorite too, next to the 1968 comeback special where he wore that black leather suit, in a boxing ring….

I think we need a roadtrip to memphis come August when the masses come out in full-on E-wear. good times. long live the king.

and I own Viva Las Vegas, too… and vintage movie poster (in French) from the movie. its the best one, bc Ann-Margaret was his equal… love.it.
