Thank you for all of the emails concerning my return home to Houston and Kyle’s Idol recap. We appreciate your concern and support and need you to know that we are okay.
I’ve been in a daze for the past 48-hours. Being stuck in the Denver airport is not as exciting as it sounds. But the one thing that got me through was knowing that when I finally returned home to my sweet TiVo, I would have Dancing with the Stars results, American Idol and my beloved Glee waiting for me. Three hours of bliss!
You can imagine my horror to discover that Tuesday night did not record. Apparently, dear, sweet, beloved, OH NO YOU DIDN’T Tivo decided to record all episodes of the Young and the Restless (including the ones on the Soap Opera channel) and ran out of space.
That is soooo my life.
I know what I’ll be doing all weekend long. Thank goodness for online viewing and YouTube.
And bless Kyle’s heart. I think he’s still in the fetal position from Glambert’s return to the American Idol kingdom. From what I understand, he hasn’t moved since FOX got a close-up on Adam’s bedazzled ear pieces. He is clutching his favorite Transformer (Bumble Bee) and rocking back and forth uttering, “Why, oh, why, oh, why oh…did I ever leave Ohio.” Which is weird, because he’s from Oklahoma. I made a Kris Allen playlist and mixed it with his other two favorite genres: Toad the Wet Sprocket and anything Christmas. A few hours of that on his iPod and he should be find.
Look for the recap tomorrow.
Until then, let me know what you thought! Did the artist formerly known as “Straight Up Cover” Andrew Garcia deserve to go home? And what about “High School Student” Katie? Did Bowersox rock your socks off? What about Kyle’s boy Lee?
Talk to me people. I know nothing!

Adam did a great job!
That’s all I have to say about that…
I talked about my feelings here: http://sturgmomingeneral.blogspot.com/2010/04/ai-recap-top-9-part-2.html
Is it possible that Ryan gets more annoying every season?
First – Adam did a better job than expected and even spoke to the “why am I on – I was runner up last year and have no career yet” concern… I was surprised.
Here is my order (best to worst):
Lee – I love Lee and his growly bluesy rocky voice and those blue eyes! I loved his song and his rendition and his performance and how he reacted to Adam and how he reacted to Ryan and how he reacts to the judges. Yes, I heart Lee!
Big Mike – He sang “In the Ghetto” and it was really good. He was sitting down, playing the guitar, low key and not over the top, cheesy performance. He definitely earned his “save”.
Crystal – She sang a song that sounded like every song she has sang – it was great, it was real, it was solid. Is she getting predictable? Yes. Is that a bad thing? On this show, for her, maybe.
Casey – He sang a song that sounded like every sone he has sang – it was good, it was real, it was solid. Is he getting predictable? Yes. Is that a bad thing? On this show, for him, yes.
Andrew – I know 3 of the 4 judges gave this a thumbs down but I had to agree with Ellen. Maybe this was another sounded better on TV performance or maybe I like that kind of music. Not sure. I am starting to like him and get to know him – sad he was sent home.
Tim – I did not like his version of this song. I do not like Tim. He has been on this show way longer than he should have. This should be Alex Lambert’s spot. But, people will say it was good, little girls everywhere will vote for him (along with VoteForTheWorst). I feel like he may make it 2 more weeks, at least.
Katie – She sure was trying to use her big voice and her attitude and her anger at the judges in this song. She sang it well but I still think she was a little girl with an old voice just not getting it right. She was sent home maybe 2 weeks too early, though.
Aaron – I wish he would grow-up a little, and just sing that country pop Rascal Flatts vibe. I like his voice but I do not feel anything for him. He has no confidence. I think he looks like he wants to cry every time he gets a critique. I think he should have gone home this week.
Siobhan – Seriously. She had a chance to show her “idol” – Adam Lambert that she really is Lady Lambert. She even told him that she was being compared to him and he seemed to really like that. But, this song was horrible – slow, boring and she sang it bad – even when she went into her “2nd voice”, it was still bad. She needs to go home. She looked like she walked out of a business meeting in the mid-80′s. I just don’t get her or her voice or her pull. Oh well, she will probably make it to the Top 4.
Sorry Colorado didn’t treat you the best while you were here, Lincee. Kyle, once you are ready – so are we!
Okay I love Lee too. He can do no wrong. He just needs to believe he is good.
I did not care for Mike’s version of In the Ghetto. JMHO. Not a powerful enough voice for me, that is a powerful song, his voice did not do it justice.
Crystal sounds great. But all her stuff sounds kinda the same. I bet a CD from her would sound like one giant long song. I am getting bored with her.
I really liked Casey’s version of Jealous Man, other stuff – not so much.
Katie with a few more years experience will be awesome – she is not there yet. Cute as heck – she will be a singer, just not on Idol.
Siobhan – she is different, she can sing ballads, she can sing rock, she can change it up and I like her voice. She seems to have that performance knack. I want her to stay on.
Sad for Andrew I think he is really good but he just does not have the stage presence.
Tim – Bless his heart, go home.
Aaron – I love this kid. He has a wonderful voice and his stage presence is getting better. He just needs to get past the nerves. Miley and Usher both admitted he has a really great voice. I think he has a great range and that he has much more in him. I really liked his version of Blue Suede Shoes and I did not think I would – I am a huge Elvis fan. Some day he will be a big star. I would like it to be now but I am not sure he can get there fast enough.
Adam Lambert – he has showmanship but his voice is not my favorite!
I thought Idol last night was fair. It was time for Andrew and Katie. For the first time, I was glad that Tim didn’t get the boot. I thought he did great on Tuesday. I may even have to buy that one on iTunes!
BTW – I love Toad the Wet Sprocket! They are coming here to Portland in July and your post totally reminded me that I have to get my tickets! Thanks!
They need to just go ahead and give it all to Lee right now!! Like most everyone else, I’m just not gettin’ this season at all EXCEPT for darling Lee. Also…Spreading more love for Toad! One of the best bands EVER, and they stayed under the radar. Kyle, I’m sure you have your tickets for TTWS at House of Blues, Houston, May 15! My daughter graduates from A & M at 2:00 that day, but I’ll still be there! Am I a bad mother? How ’bout if I take her with?
damn y’all are funny – WHY are you not dating EACH OTHER??? or maybe you are dating each other and we just don’t know it?? i’m just saying…
Oh my gravy. Jake- on twitter:
Marriage to me is till death do us part. When we marry Im in it for life, until God takes her away.
TEAM LEE – I love him!! I also love Casey James. I think both of them are hot and great singers! I like Crystal but don’t really see her winning. She is cool and has a great voice but sometimes she bores me. Poor little Aaron has got to go next week. I like that Siobhan is unique but something about the way she sings really gets on my nerves.
I need to vent about Ryan Seacrest. He desperately needs attention and wants the show to be all about him. He is so annoying!!! How about when he was dancing with some guy in the aisle during the one song? (I think it was Casey’s?) Why is he allowed to do that? That would have pissed me off if I was the one singing… very distracting. Okay, rant over. But he is the worst!
Lovin your recaps! Thanks!
Even though Crystal is my favorite I don’t think she will win, but I do think she will have the best career out of the whole bunch. I think if you could somehow combine Lee’s voice with Casey’s guitar playing and his swagger you would have an awesome singer/entertainer.
As far as Ryan goes Maureen, I used to like him but lately this season he has completely gone coo coo for coco puffs. I think he’s just getting bored.
