My Thoughts on the 2019 Oscars
It was a night full of whimsy, shockers, disappointments, crazy outfits, and one man jumping into another man’s arms, proving that this celebrity reads my Bachelor recaps.
This…is the Oscars 2019.
Metallic Madness
Glenn – A golden goddess. And in the silver metallic category, third place goes to Captain Marvel Brie Larson. Second place goes to Molly Sims. JLo- for the win! For the dress and her co-presenter.
Female Tuxedo Game is Strong
I think this works. It doesn’t hurt that I adore Awkwafina and John Mulaney to death. Tuxedo cape. Not my favorite, Melissa. Here’s J-Hud’s more dramatic interpretation of Melissa’s cape. Awkward.
Shoulder Flair
J-Hud should have worn this on stage. A dramatic shoulder for a dramatic woman. Fierce. ORANGE SHOULDER RUFFLES! PINK TULLE RUFFLES! The lady on the right should have stood on the left.
No M’am
Maya, maya, maya. Why is the top of her dress made out of a red tarp? Beam me up, Scotty. HORRIFIC next to FANTASTIC. (You’re my boy Paul!) Bless Aquaman’s heart. Dusty rose is never a good thing. Helen knows this. Is is a cowboy hat? Is it a beanie? We may never know the answer. Here’s a NO, a YES, and a ??? all wrapped up in one delightful photo!
PS: The Academy’s best decision of the night was to let these ladies open the show
behind this guy…
Best Moment
Sometimes, superheroes wear turquoise velvet. Or sweaters and ties.
Biggest Disappointment

I love the Divine Ms. M. with my whole heart. But Bette Midler singing “The Place Where the Lost Things Go” from Mary Poppins Returns was the wrong choice. Emily Blunt would have crushed it.
Biggest Laughs
Trevor Noah pretending he grew up on Wakanda, Olivia Colman’s entire acceptance speech for winning Best Actress, and the opening from Maya, Tina, and Amy.
Best Dressed

Most Sexual Tension in the Room
Movies We Need To See
Roma, Green Book, Bohemian Rhapsody, The Favourite, Vice, Bohemian Rhapsody, If Beale Street Could Talk, A Star Is Born, and BlacKKKlansman.
Proof That Spike Lee Reads My Bachelor Recaps

Spot on! Emily said she would never sing in front of a crowd – especially, at the Oscars. I thought Bette’s dress was delightful and Keegan-Michael Key descending like Mary Poppins was hysterical!
I thought Julia looked absolutely amazing! Loved her dress color and style and it went perfectly with her skin tone and hair! Gorgeous!
You mentioned the 20 people that moved the piano on stage, but didn’t mention the 20 people it took to carry J-Hud’s train OFF stage.
And Melissa McCarthy’s outfit when she presented. I was howling at the bunny puppet. All in all, I thought it was pretty good. It did drag a bit, okay a lot, in the middle, but I loved the opening and I loved Rami Malek’s acceptance speech, Olivia Colman’s acceptance speech and the best Chris helping Regina King to the stage.
“The lady on the right should have stood on the left.” LOL, I said the exact same thing!
Thank you for this recap, Lincee. I love your Bachelor and DWTS recaps, but I LOVE when you recap the awards shows. It’s my favorite.
Julia Roberts won the night. Makes me wish should could find a film that’s Erin Brockovich worthy, I miss her doing big, quality films. She is timeless.
Sara – if you have Amazon Prime, you really should watch Homecoming. Julia Roberts in a non-Julia Roberts role, but she ROCKS it! And the ending is fantastic!!
Thanks, Amy! I actually have seen it, I didn’t like it at all 🙁 I watched the whole thing. I wanted to like it because, Julia!, but something about it turned me off.
