Bachelorette Ashley Recap: Episode 7

The recap will be up later today as soon as I figure out what message to write on my love lantern.  In the meantime, please run over to AOL by clicking HERE to read about my top five “How Many ABC Interns Does It Take?” moments from last night’s show.

As always, feel free to chat among yourselves in the comment section until I return.  I have a feeling some of you will have A LOT to say!

My favorite part of the episode was when the dog took a whiz on their lantern! 🙂

Don’t get me wrong Emily is GORGEOUS but did she go to Ames’ dentist? What’s with the veneers darlin’?

The show continues to be a snooze fest and Ashley continues to wear little girl’s clothing. How could she sit down in those tiny skirts without her butt hanging out? Girlfriend, put away those skinny jeans, they only make your bowed legs look worse.

This week, Ashley gave up on the off-the-shoulder look for the exposed back look.

I did feel bad for Ryan when, during Ashley’s “I’m just not that into you” speech, he said, “But you don’t want to go back and meet my family?” I almost expected him to continue, “And see my room?” because he sounded like a broken-hearted 6-year-old.

Is it just me or did Emily give no details about why she and Brad broke up? I also read the People magazine article and found nothing. It’s not like she has to share this information, but if she is going to do a primetime TV and major magazine interview, you’d think there’d be something noteworthy in one of them.

I have also read online somewhere that Emily is in talks to be the next bachelorette. This would go against everything she said last night about the paparazzi following her around. She also said she wanted to focus on being a mom, and I don’t think being the bachelorette is the best way to do that. We’ll see. Maybe those were just rumors.

I was very surprised that Ashley kept Ames and dropped Lucas.

I noticed that Ashley’s style has shifted from sheer tunics to back-baring tops. Where does she buy her clothes? I wouldn’t have the slightest idea where to find that blue shirt. I guess she doesn’t need to wear a bra.

Jennifer H. – “And see my room?” hahahhahaha!!!

I think we’re as surprised as Ames that he got a rose. That, my friends, is the look of panic, not love.

While it’s easy to assume that Ames must be gay, I honestly think he’s just a super preppy, uber-rich, ivy leaguer. Of course, Ames making the comment “it’s really slimming” when Lucas emerged wearing a gold dress doesn’t help his cause at all. I cannot wait to see what kind of sprawling estate he takes Ashley to next week.

Poor Ryan. I really felt bad for the guy. I haven’t read any spoilers, but it seems pretty obvious that Ashley will be choosing between JP and Ben in the end. (And she won’t deserve either of them).

i thought emily made it really clear that she felt brad wasn’t going to want to be with her once the new wore off… she was super classy in not bashing him, but i thought it was pretty clear.

as for ashley, she might be the worst person ever to be on this show:

1) “isn’t this so crazy?!?” is not the best response when butting into someone else’s religious ceremony

2) dudes DO NOT LIKE TAKING WEDDING PICTURES. (seriously, does anyone?) especially dressing 2/3 of them up in dorky outfits (although only ames could pull that one off) and then making them watch each other kiss you. “isn’t this so fun, guys?” No ash, it’s not. also, be warned boys… she will be like this the rest of your lives…

3) waiting until what is, i believe, the last actual one on one date of the season, the one that’s supposed to be no pressure, to send mr. sunshine home… yeah, i found him kind of annoying…. but that was just cruel. and Ash? grown people at least PRETEND they are interested in what their date is saying…. you should try it. (also, if you ask him to explain something to you, you should pay attention and not fault him because you think it’s boring. YOU ASKED)

I’ve got to agree with you Rebbeca. I do believe that Ames is one of those super preppy, uber-rich guys. I laughed outloud when he told Lucas that his his gold “dress” was slimming. I also noticed that he is super polite. I noticed that he was the only guy who stood up when Ashley walked into the room at the end of the group date. His momma, or nanny tought him right.

How did Emily appear to be crying for a good 20 minutes without a single tear? If she were so frustrated and annoyed by being in the spotlight she should have never come back to do the fake interview with the fake crying and the fake sincerity. I ain’t buyin’ it. The failure of your fake relationship with a TV d-bag is your “worst nightmare”? How about the tragic, untimely death of your real fiance and father of your soon-to-be realized baby in your belly? I don’t know why she’s rubbed me wrong so severly but she has. If she DOESN’T come back as the bachelorette, she may win a smidgen of respect. Just sayin’.

@ Claiborne – I totally agree with you about the Emily interview both last night and in People. It was just kind of a whole lot of nothing other than they broke up and she’s sad about it. I also read that she’s in talks to be the next Bachelorette. We’ll have to wait and see I guess.

@ Marus – I agree that Ashley should have at least been interested in what Ryan said when she asked him the environmental question. I was cracking up because my husband and I have been trying to decide whether we should switch to a new tankless water heater vs. our tank water heater. I was bummed that they cut out half of what Ryan was saying to dub in Ashley talking. I wanted to hear what he was saying about the tankless heaters. LOL! 🙂

Yeah, I don’t get the whole backless shirt thing she had going on last night. It’s like each episode has a wardrobe theme (e.g., bras & see through shirts one week, off the shoulder the next, no bras and backless the next…). Wonder what we’ll be in store for next week? All I know is that blue backless shirt looked like one windy breeze away from a major wardrobe malfunction.

Once again, Ashley shows she has absolutely NO emotional intelligence when it comes to understanding men. She is so all about herself and her needs but clearly has had the worst dates on the history of this show…pretending to get married, dance contests, dressing up in wedding garb and getting pictures taken. Gees, she is like a 10 year old! She is rude when she makes up her mind to let someone go. I doubt if she will be able to make any relationship last. She is insecure, needy, un-interesting and immature. She doesnt deserve any of the remaining men.

In agreement..that dog peeing on the love lantern…awesome sauce and the best part of the episode (well of what I saw…I broke down and looked to see when Emily was coming on).

I saw when Ashley sent Ryan home…that was brutal. She’d already kicked him pretty hard where it hurts w/ the I’m just not feeling it (yes honest but ok end it there)…no she had to throw in at the end – paraphrasing – “you know that like passion you said we need to feel or some such…I”m just not feeling that” Well he’s already down let me just keep on kicking. How’d that castration feel there Ryan? Do you need some meds?

@Rebecca C…I wonder if Ames house will be bigger than Chantal. This Ivy league thing and all..hmm…I’ll find out from ya’ll then check online later if it is. LOL (HGTV junky here)

Sorry but Emily’s time as a complete waste of 20+ mintues of TV. I didn’t care too much since I figured it wasn’t going to last long (and sorry OHCH…many of your couples split not married!), but I got nothing from that other than she didn’t get her way. Not to mention I don’t think she was ever really that much into Brad. I didn’t get the not knowing if he wanted to be w/ her 6 weeks, 6 months, or 6 years later. Dude was tripping over himself about her. I think she questioned him when she saw all the other stuff going on the show when it aired..but hello that’s what you signed up for….and some insecurities got in the way. just my opinion. And the crying right away (not a tear or makeup mishap)…I just don’t buy some of what was trying to be sold. Hopefully it’s the end of it.

Emily didn’t like the attention she was receiving? One would think that being part of the Hendrick Motor Sports family she would be used to it.

Last night was hard to watch. This season is painfully boring.
