Beaner Book List

Remember back when it wasn’t triple digit weather and I asked y’all if you would suggest some summer reading material for my night stand and you delivered with recommendation upon recommendation of your favorite classics, beach reads and “I’m using a pseudo name because I’m embarrassed to admit that I actually purchased this ridiculous piece of literature?” (CLICK HERE)

Well, I’ve finally made a list that combines each recommendation (by title and author) for us all to enjoy. It only took me four months! Go me!

I’ve decided to link this page too so you can easily find it in the future. It will be the first title under BLOGROLL up there on the left panel under categories.

For the record, I’ve read two Beaner suggestions and have three, quite literally, waiting for me on the night stand. Since we are clearly a community of intellectuals who appreciate the written word, feel free to continue to add books, series and authors in the comment section of this post and I’ll update the list periodically.

That’s code for one or twice a year. Sad, but true.

Now, grab your yarn-tasseled scratch-n-sniff book markers from fourth grade and READ AWAY!

awesome list! I will have to check this out next time I am in need of a good book. You really need to check out the Nantucket Love Series by Denise Hunter. I really think you would enjoy all those books! JMO!

Thanks for this, Lincee! Just finished Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. Couldn’t put it down. Psychological study of a marriage unraveling, with a little thriller thrown in! Good summer read–

I was so bored on my last deployment, when I wasn’t chasing babes from “Big Pimpin,” I was reading nearly 2 books a week. I am on the Kindle bandwagon now. This is an impressive list in both volume and variety.

The Caine Mutiny is one of my favorites of all time.

Thanks for the list, Lincee! After we make the final move back to Hville…I’m sure I’ll have lots of free time on my hands for some readin’ on the porch. 🙂

Read “gone girl” now before you read anything else about it. Just do it.

New author wrote a cool reincarnation love story novel, available on Kindle. It’s called The Pull, by Chelsie Shakespeare. A quick read and unique take on the whole “meant to be” theme.
I think it would be cool to see which books have been read by your followers and if they liked it or loved it. I read The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton and LOVED it! I also read her other books and they are all really good.

Am about 3/4 finished with ‘Gone Girl’ and am only on a break right now because I had to use the potty (and no, I’m NOT typing this while using it….). BEST, most consuming book I’ve read in a long time. Author used to be the movie/t.v. critic for EW…maybe that’s why she’s so good – she appreciates good pop-culture!!

“Haroun and the Sea of Stories” by Salman Rushdie is hands down my favourite book of all time! Followed closely by “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee. I have read both of them dozens of times and will continue to do so throughout my life.

As for the above list, “The Art of Racing in the Rain” was touching and inspired and “Life of Pi” was incredible.

I’m such a huge reading fan. This is great. Should we have a little book club now and then as well? Right now I’m rereading “The Girl…” Stieg Larsson series, but I’ll pop here for the next batch.

Thanks for sharing. I would love to see your “top 10 list” of books sometime.

Enjoy and happy reading.

I agree that Unbroken is excellent! I read it over a year ago and still think about it. Another excellent WWII book is Invitation to Valhalla by Mike Whicker. A very suspenseful spy novel!

I was inspired by your list to comment about the book I am reading, and see that several others have already mentioned it. Gone Girl is way pageturning!
Thanks for the list – it really looks like a great resource for us all.
