Big News and a Giveaway
Someone once told me that writing a book is like giving birth.
Now I have friends who have given actual birth to actual babies and I understand that I should use this metaphor lightly. But if you will indulge me, the concept does make a little sense in this writer’s brain.
You work and care for this precious phenomenon that has been with you for months and months until suddenly it’s finally out in the world for everyone to see. People around you rejoice that it’s here! You celebrate it. You talk about it all day long. You even sit through someone judging its name or others making fun of certain parts, but that’s okay. You love it unconditionally.
Allow me to toss another analogy your way. A few of those friends who gave birth to an actual baby, turned right around and decided (or not) to do the entire process again. These people fall into one of two categories:
The first are the women who live by the ride or die mantra of, “Let’s get this show on the road!” She pops babies out like it’s her job. The other side of that coin is the mom who is deep in the trenches of late night feedings and zero sleep with her three month old, staring at a positive pregnancy test with a look of shock on her face as screams waft in the distance. This mama’s mantra is more like, “What have we done?”
***The giveaway is coming. I promise. Keep going.***
At this point you are probably wondering where I’m going with all the birth talk. Does Lincee have baby fever? Is she about to tell me that she’s going to adopt half of Zambia? Will this hinder her posting schedule? What about the recaps?! WHO WILL RECAP OUR SHOWS?
Listen, I do not have baby fever. I have book fever. I am writing another book.
Yes, my current book baby is only six weeks old. Yes, the next one is due in May.
IT’S DUE IN MAY.
I find my current season of life somewhere between the ride or die moms and the ones with the crazy eyes who mumble, “How did I get here?”
Hear me when I say I’m loving every minute of it. I just won’t sleep until the summer. It’s totally okay. Don’t worry about me. I’ll be fine. The bigger question you should be asking is what does this mean for you?
I understand your concern and I should warn you that the frequency of my posts might taper off a bit in the next few months. Do not assume that I have abandoned my website. That would never happen. That will never happen.
But since I’m going to be in an out in the next weeks, I’d like to bribe you to stick around by entering a fun giveaway! It’s really simple. All you have to do is post a selfie (or shelf-ie) with Why I Hate Green Beans at your local Barnes & Noble. Share the link or screenshot with us at whyihategreenbeans@gmail.com and fill out the Rafflecopter deal (CLICK HERE).
Prizes are a $50 Barnes & Noble Gift Card (SO COOL), a pair of Flatlands: Simple + Style earrings (LOVE THEM), and an IHGB t-shirt (NO WAY!)

Good luck! If you need me, I’ll be over here writing that new book. Ignore the crazy eyes.
Only US residents are eligible. The winner of the contest will be randomly selected on April 4, 2018 and will be contacted via email if they have won. This contest is not affiliated with Facebook in anyway.
I’m sure you do not need to be reminded that the Bachelorette starts on May 28 or thereabouts. And I also hope that there will be podcasts. Multitask, woman! And I don’t know if I can wait for the next book. If it’s due in May, when is publication? Kevin wants to know.
Totally on my radar of course! I will definitely be covering the Bachelorette. ALWAYS!!!
That is so awesome you are writing another book!
I think so too! Thank you!
I’m soooo excited, and I just can’t hide it
Are you about to lose control? And do you think you like it?
ooooo ooooo ya……………….
Is B&N the only national retailer to carry your book? Can I take a “shelfie” with my Kindle?
I believe the promotional deal is with B&N, so probably not. So sorry!
Another Book??????? I. Cannot. Wait!!!! I must hotfoot it over to my Barnes and Noble for that shelfie!!!! I want to WIN!!!!!!
Yay Norma!
Lincee, it was great hearing you speak at the WorkFaith luncheon today! You are as funny in person as you are online. And I am so excited to read your book…thank you for that! Looking forward to the joy this “baby” and the next one will bring me!
What a sweet compliment! Thank you Christian!
YAYYYYY!!!!!
WOO HOOOOO!!!
I read your book in just a few days; I loved it. And can’t wait for your next one!! Go you!!
Thanks Ellen!
So cool!! Big, huge congrats to you!
I may not be your only male fan/reader, but I have been by your side the longest…second to Johnny of course.
Lincee, I just read your book that was given to me by a good friend! I LOVED it and read it in 24 hours. I can relate with you on SO many levels: love the Bachelor, wore hair dillies, have pondered why guys have their cat as their profile picture for online dating, have mourned that I don’t yet (and may not) have my own kids but have loved on my nieces and nephews and friend’s kids, have actually braved the American Girl Cafe (I live in Houston) with my niece, etc etc. And some things I don’t relate with, I have several friends going through similar things right now. Thank you so much for writing this book! It has given me hope and helped me not feel alone during a tough time in my life! I look forward to reading more from you AND weirdly, I LOVE (canned) green beans and eat them by the canful!
I missed the giveaway. But that’s okay because I don’t even know where the nearest B&N in my neck of the woods. The important thing is that you’re writing another book. What’s this one about?! Can’t wait.
And are you doing a book signing in DC?!?
That was fun. Hope I win! I made my one year old pose with me…like she had a choice! Congrats Lincee!
