The movie was okay.  He cried better than I thought he would.  But being the hopeless romantic that I am, I walked away with the image of him picking up the girl and kissing her in the rain burned in my memory forever.

Oh to be that girl.

I first loved Channing in She’s the Man.  It’s time you know that I have a somewhat unhealthy girl crush on Amanda Bynes, but that’s not my point right now.  Channing is so adorable when he isn’t “acting” and let’s himself go in that movie.

But then I really fell in love with Channing during Step Up.  Give me a guy who is confident on the dance floor ANY DAY OF THE WEEK.

You know how I love to secretly believe that there is such a thing as spontaneous group dancing.

Oh if that were true.

But this will probably go down as one of my favorite Channing Tatum moments.

Oh to be Ellen.

It wasn’t that bad!

I found myself laughing out loud at his opening monologue.  The Barnes & Noble skit was funny.  His cameo in the digital short was gross but still made me chuckle.  His Scott Brown spoof made me giggle several times. 

But this was my favorite by far:

Look at that.  Don Draper and Michael Bubbly.  Together.  Being funny.  I couldn’t ask for more.  I should start a new category since I’ve posted about moments like this here and here.  I shall call it “Lincee’s Crossroads.”

Of course, I welcome any Crossroads suggestions to be considered for future posts.  I’ve already sent Our Host Chris Harrison a request to video himself drinking a Dr Pepper.

It’s killing me people.  Not being able to drive is about as annoying as not being able to take a bath.  Lord knows I know what THAT feels like too!  Fingers crossed that tomorrow my doctor will let me get the stitches wet and I can live a normal bubble bath – filled life again.  PLEASE DR. MOSELY!  IF YOU ARE READING THIS…HELP A PATIENT OUT AND LET HER SET FIRE TO THE BOX OF TRASH BAGS AND HOT PINK DUCT TAPE THAT CURRENTLY RESIDES ON HER TOILET TANK TOP.  MY LEG NEEDS WATER.  LOVE YA LIKE A GOOD DOCTOR, BUT YOUR INITIALS ON MY KNEE CAP HAVE GOT TO GO SOON!

As I sat at my desk earlier, I decided it would be a good time to write about my favorite movies of 2009.  So I did what any normal human would do and Googled a list of movies that debuted this year. 

Dear reader, I am an avid movie goer.  Working sort of “in” the business at my previous job, I had passes and tickets to anything and everything and some films I never thought about seeing on the big screen.  But something happened in 2009. 

I barely saw any movies.  

Of course, I saw the ones that deemed worthy of a big, huge, gigantic, red circle on my calendar:

1.  New Moon:  I might have mentioned my love for a certain werewolf once or twice here, here, here and here.

2.  Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince introduced me to my new crush. 

3.  The world wide interweb joined me with my infatuation of Captain James T. Kirk.  (hubba hubba)

I also saw He’s Just Not That In To You and 17 Again and The Proposal.  They were good. 

Of course, you can’t win them all.  There were plenty of “meh” moments in the theater with Ugly Truth, and Ghosts of Girlfriends Past.  I flat out hid under the theater cushion during The Hangover as American Idol Guest Blogger Kyle literally…I mean LITERALLY…rolled in hysterics for most of the movie. 

Boys.

And then there was Fame.  Oh Fame.  I had such high hopes for you.  And your soundtrack.  Definitely the biggest disappointment of 2009.

My point?  I’m getting there.

As I sifted through the movies of 2009 to remember the ones I’ve seen, the BIGGER question that came to mind was:

How in the world did I miss seeing some of these movies?  And how have I still not seen some of the ones that were on my radar MONTHS ago?

Get ready.  I’m going to break it down for you.  In no particular order, these include:

Movie:  The Blind Side

To my defense, a Christmas program dominated most of my December.  And immediately following the Christmas play, I had knee surgery that hindered me from thinking straight.  Ironically, I have to walk in a straight leg brace.  But I will see it because I hear it is amazing.

Movie:  Julie and Julia

I love Meryl Streep.  And I adore Amy Adams.  And I thought Julia Childs was a hoot!  Why did I never see this movie?  All of the facts are there in black and white.  It’s a mystery.

Movie:  Michael Jackson’s This Is It

Hello!  I’m a huge MJ fan.  Even worse, I heard it was amazing!  Even worse than that, about 15 people told me I should see it and another 15 were mortified that I had not seen it.  What was I doing that month?  Where was my head? 

Movie:  Up

Okay.  I sort of have a defense for this one.  Someone, or several ones, told me it was sad.  And I can’t stand leaving a movie theater sad or feeling yucky as a result of what I just spent money to entertain my brain.  I’m going to need your wisdom Beaners.

Movie:  Night at the Museum 2

See above for my love of Amy Adams.  And I thoroughly enjoyed the first one.  And I remember being excited about the second one.  I’m almost positive I had no idea it came out.  Sort of like how I missed when GI Joe came out.  Did it come out?  I’m off topic again…

Movie:  Whip It

I lived in roller skates from the ages of seven to 12.  This is not an exaggeration.  One of my Mom’s favorite pictures of me is roller skating around the pool (safe, huh?) with my “I’m a Pepper” t-shirt and knee socks.  Some kids got chocolate bunnies and boiled eggs for Easter?  My sister and I scored new roller skates ever year.  Why I would miss a movie about roller derby is beyond me.  I’m in total shock.

Movie:  500 Days of Summer

I heard it was good.  I heard it was great!  I never saw it.  Why?  I don’t know.

Movie:  X-Men Origins

C’MON ON LINCEE! 

I’m quite confident that I had to be on CRACK to not know two of my favorite crushes were in this movie.  Seriously. 

And now that the holiday movie season has hit, there are other shows that have crept up on the radar:

Movie:  Sherlock Holmes

Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law?  Please and thank you.

Movie:  It’s Complicated

I heard it wasn’t complicated at all.  I heard it was fabulous.

Movie:  Nine

I love a good movie musical.  But it debuted at number eight.  That can’t be a good sign.  Anyone? 

Movie:  Avatar

I’m including this one because I don’t want a million emails telling me to go see this show.  I have no interest.  I’m sorry, but I don’t.  The blue people remind me of Jar Jar Binks and he drove me bananas.  Why couldn’t the main dude (clearly an actor in the running for 2010 movie crush) look like himself? 

Now there’s a movie I’d see in a heart beat.

I need your help.  Steer me in the right direction dear readers.  Help me to decide what is a “must go see now” or “must Netflix now” or “don’t waste your time” because I’m overwhelmed at my choices.

And are there any I left out that you feel were worth mentioning?

You did a great job on the Christmas movie conundrum.  Let’s hear your voices on this one!  HAVE AT IT!

Really?  Really Hollywood?  Do you think that you are ever going to be able to recreate a moment like this?

And where are you going to find a modern day Robby Benson, huh?  Do you think they just grow on trees?  A quick IMDB.com search tells me that this yahoo is going to play Robby’s role of Nick Peterson.

I mean, I guess I can see this working.  Whatever.  OK.  He’s hot.  But can he portray a lifetime of emotion in just one teary stare at Lexie?  We shall see.

And Lord help me if you have Miley Cyrus or the Jonas Brothers cover the beautiful theme song that plays such an important role in the movie.  I will NOT stand for that.

Can I get an amen TEAM JACOB fans?

Since I’m going to be laid up for the week of Christmas due to a pending ACL reconstruction, I decided to save all of my Christmas movies in order to watch them that week while I’m bored out of my mind.  Or comatose.  Whatever the case may be.

I was rattling off a list of my favorites to a friend of mine.  She smiled politely while I talked about my love of the following:

1.  White Christmas

Oh to have a big, ice blue feather fan for Christmas.  That would come in handy during spontaneous outburst of “Sisters” when I’m in the kitchen with my own sister.  Of course, we’ll have to find some tinsel or sequins to dress up the crutches a bit, but that’s fine. 

2.  Christmas Vacation

This show has some of the funniest one-liners that we repeat during the entire month of December.  And I love how Aunt Bethany sweetly recites the Pledge of Allegiance at the dinner table. 

Adorable.

3.  The Grinch

Jim Carey at his absolute finest.  It might be my opinion, but it’s true.

4.  A Christmas Story

Ohhhhh fuuuuuuudddddgggggee.  (Only I didn’t say fudge…)

I could have gone on and on for days:  Miracle on 34th Street, Charlie Brown Christmas, The Santa Clause (parts 1 and 2.  Part 3?  Not so much.) It’s a Wonderful Life and the original Grinch that plays 24-hours on TBS when A Christmas Story isn’t playing 24-hours on TBS.

My friend then offered a few of her own that just floored me:

Love Actually and Home Alone.

Dear reader…never in my years of owning BOTH of these movies has it occurred to me to watch them during CHRISTMASTIME.  Which makes perfect sense because THEY ARE SET AT CHRISTMASTIME. 

Are there any others that I’m blatantly missing?  It’s going to be eight hours a day in the bendy machine.  And traditionally (remember…I’ve been down this road twice before) my body refuses to sleep in the bendy machine.  So I’m going to need movies to watch to keep my mind off of the evil bendy machine.

Before you mention Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, please note that claymation sort of freaks me out.  And the sound that Rudolph’s nose makes when it lights up is like scratching a chalkboard to me.  I don’t know.  I’m weird.

So I bought the book and finished it in two days.

It made me wonder…have you ever read a book to prepare yourself for the movie?  Or seen a trailer and then went out to buy the book to see what the hype was all about?  Is so, let me know in the comment section.  I’m a sucker for a book being turned into a movie.

4.  When Jacob walked through the rain with short hair and the girls in the audience screamed at the top of their lungs.  (I was one of those girls.)

5.  Anything Chief Swan said.

6.  Emmett to Edward, “Dating an older women.  Nice.”

7.  Jane:  “This might hurt a little.”

8.  Jacob getting ticked off at Mike when he was about to kiss Bella the first time at the movie theater.

9.  The fact that Jacob and Bella never actually kissed.

10.  Even though I’m Team Jacob, Edward stepping out into the sun in Italy was pretty special.  Even though his abs were fake and spray painted on.
