IHGB Giveaway: ‘The Star’ Soundtrack

Who doesn’t love a giveaway? Sony Pictures sent me a brand new copy of the CD to their new holiday movie, “The Star.” I have listened to the soundtrack, and let me tell you dear reader, you are in for a treat!

You’ve got Mariah Carey, a Christmas staple. There’s Kelsea Ballerini who dominates in “Children Go Where I Send You.” Kirk Franklin and Fifth Harmony bring it. Jessie James Decker sings directly to my soul, not to mention the vocal stylings of A Great Big World, Zara Larson, Yolanda Adams, Saving Forever, and Jake Owen.

But my favorite is Casting Crowns singing “His Eye is On the Sparrow.” Glorious!

Entering the giveaway is easy. Simply comment here on this post about your favorite holiday tradition. I’ll assign numbers to comments and then choose a winner using a digit generator. The winner will be announced Friday. Good luck!

We have a wooden Santa growth chart we hang every year. We put our boys in a Christmas Pj’s & mark their height. It’s fun to see how much they’ve grown in a year & compares little brother to big brother’s height at the same age!

We do the traditional German pickle ornament. We leave it out for Santa, and he hides it on the tree. Whoever finds it in the morning gets an extra little present.

This is going to sound like a weird tradition , but we always order Chinese for dinner Christmas Eve . We’ve done this ever since my kids became adults (around 15 years ago). Then we watch Christmas movies . Now, if you’re thinking I’m too old for a cartoon , I need to point out my grandkids are 2, 9 and 12. And I would love to watch this awesome looking movie with them! Thank you for being so generous with your gift!!!

Every Sunday we light an Advent calendar at dinner, read a devotion and then I read a little snippet from Lisa Welchl’s book about the history of different Christmas traditions. The kids get to choose what they want to hear about. Oh, and we eat by the light of the Advent candles. We love it!

Mine is putting out our Nativity. It’s doesn’t feel like Christmas until Jesus is in His manger all settled under the lit tree. 🙂

We have a Jesse Tree advent calendar we do every night with our kids. It goes through the whole Bible telling the story of Jesus’ lineage and the promise of the Savior. It’s pretty incredible!

We go to a local railroad that does the polar express. Like musical theater on a historic train car!

My favorite Christmas traditions (growing up) are either attending a Christmas Eve services at church or eating homemade cinnamon rolls Christmas morning.
