Soundtrack of My Life: Run, jog or wog

funny entertainment blog-Running

The first thing you should know is that this is not a silhouette of me exercising on the beach at dusk. The second thing you should know is that I wog. When your knee has been cut open eight times, running is next to impossible. Plus, I don’t really like doing it. Therefore, I wog.

Wogging is a delightful combination of fast walking and slow jogging. It’s extremely attractive when executed, especially when your entire neighborhood is full of men and women who seem to be training for marathons.

During my last “Soundtrack of My Life” post, IHGB readers Barbara and Kelly suggested I post my workout playlist. I love how Babs and Kells assume I have a workout routine. With that said, mix tapes are my spiritual gift. Of course I have a wogging playlist. I think it’s upbeat enough to meet the needs of anyone’s exercise regime. And I’m happy to share. WOG ON!

Any Way You Want It / Lovin’ Touchin’ Squeezin’ — Glee
Before you close out of this post, I beg you to listen before judging. This mash-up is GOOD. Trust me on this one.

Shake It Off — Taylor Swift

I Lived — OneRepublic
This is a happy song with a great exercising message. What more could you want? The beat may be a little slow for running. Great for wogging.

Lady Marmalade — Moulin Rouge
There is one problem with this song. Belting out the lyrics may distract you from wogging. If it happens, just go with it. YOLO and stuff.

Lifesong — Casting Crowns
Great lyrics. Wonderful message. Lift it up.

Candyman — Christina Aguilera
Naughty lyrics. Sketchy message. Pick a harmony and have fun!

Best Day of My Life — American Authors
All-around fun song with audience participation in the “hoo, hoo’s.”

Bang Bang — Jessie J., Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaju
This one will get your blood pumping. You’ll also lose your breath from singing along. Proceed with caution on both.

Against the Grain — Garth Brooks
This one is addictive. I’m also going through a Garth Brooks phase since his concert.

I Will Wait (Live) — Mumford & Sons
This is my jam. I love a good horn section, too.

This is my other jam. It was my theme song for 2014. Love. It.

I Ain’t Leavin’ Without Your Love — Nashville Soundtrack
Love the show. Love the song. Love Connie Britton’s hair.

Flying — Green River Ordinance
If you’re in the mood to smile while you wog, listen to this one.

Say Hey — Michael Franti & Spearhead
This was my alternate song when I got tired of “Happy.”

Back to Basics — Pitch Perfect 2
This song is about getting in shape and teamwork! Disclaimer: there aren’t any instruments. It’s all a cappella. They sing with just their mouths!

Gone, Gone, Gone — Philip Phillips
I like to imagine my future boyfriend singing me this song as we wog together. That’s not weird.

Uptown Funk — Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars
It’s addictive. Even though it’s been out F-O-R-E-V-E-R.

1985 —Bowling for Soup
I just get this song. And it gets me.

Rio — Duran Duran
Get ready for the ’80s section of the playlist. Sing it Simon!

Are You Gonna Go My Way — Lenny Kravitz
Electric guitar and Lenny. You can’t go wrong.

The Way You Make Me Feel — Michael Jackson
This may be too slow for you hard core people. But this is perfect for wogging. And he sings to a “pretty baby” who “gives him fever like he’s never, ever known.” I like to think the song is inspired by me. That’s not weird either.

Cup of Life — Ricky Martin
Yes.  A thousand times yes.

Now it’s your turn. Please include your favorite workout songs in the comment section so we can grow this list! Or include any “Soundtrack of My Life” suggestions you may have for future posts.
