2018 Summer Book List

I kid you not when I say that this is one of my favorite posts of the year! It’s my fourth installment of the iHateGreenBeans summer book list and I need your help gathering up all your favorite novels, authors, and secret indulgences so I can spend forty-eight straight hours making the best reading list you’ve ever seen.

There’s only one stipulation: You have to send me the names of books that you love. That can be any genre you want. Never fear. That does include Young Adult. None of us are above Katniss Everdeen and may I reveal the GLORY known as “The Selection Series” is on my book shelf right now because so many of you recommended it to me last year. I divulged all five books in one big gulp.

Do you love classics? Send them my way. Was there a faith-based book that changed your life? I’d love to know about it. Is Why I Hate Green Beans your favorite book of 2018 so far? I understand.

But Lincee, you don’t like mystery or thriller or scary or murder or war. What about those?

Send them to me. There are factions of bibliophiles who love that stuff and I will not exclude them because I can’t take a little bit of blood and gore.

For two days, I’ll collect the data and compile my findings into a grand list. That list will be distributed via email to anyone who wants it. FOR FREE! Simply write your email address HERE!

Let me remind you that I would not know the wonder that is Jamie Fraser without a previous iHateGreenBeans book list. I wouldn’t know Melanie Shankle or Sophie Hudson. Jon Acuff is my hero, thanks to readers who let me know he’s worth my time.

Are you ready? Let’s do this. FILL THE COMMENTS UP!

The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah, The Lunar Chronicles series-YA (Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, Winter) by Marissa Meyer, The Woman in the Window by AJ Finn, The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo (technically children’s fiction, but I read it to my daughter and loved it more than she did), The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas, All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr. And one of my favorite 5-star books this last year was… Why I Hate Green Beans! 🙂

Have you thought about making a Goodreads group for all of us to follow? You can originate it, list all the books “to be read”, we can converse with each other through the group and keep track of who has read what book and what we rate it. It’s such a great app. You have to set up groups on a desktop, though. I use it in my classroom for independent reading projects. Call us Lincee’s Bookworms or something way more catchy.

I can’t wait to see your compiled list!!!

So… I read 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman. OMG ‘Splains so much why my marriage didn’t work… cause he didn’t know my love language and could NEVER show me my love language. So enough deep stuff, you can apply this to your parents, kids, friends… not just your significant other.

I’m re-reading Rock Chicks by Kristen Ashley. Love the series and their Hot Bunch hotties. LOL
