Whaat? I cannot be near the first to weigh in! Anyhow, Lincee – I read all the time, but don’t usually post because by the time I do, my viewpoint has usually been covered by others, but glad to have this chance to thank you for the blog!

I did feel for JP last night…I’m not saying I’m a fan, and I dig OHCH, but I also think Chris interrupted and pushed the ‘I Looove you, Nikki!” plea a bit much. Maybe OHCH should have said it…

I was rooting for Clare, but not because I didn’t like Nikki, in fact, I was a fan of hers from the start, but I thought Clare was a better for for JP. Well, I was wrong on both accounts, bc I don’t think JP is ready for anyone but a parrot, because he can train him to say what he wants to hear…and rub his feathers, and wide his beak…. He didn’t fall head over heals for any of these girls and that’s what needs to happen for a guy like that to actually and fully commit to a relationship.

Clare, Clare, Clare – you dodged a bullet! You had the writing on the wall, you still hung around, and you got lucky girl! Way to go with the palm block – better late than never…

Nikki – don’t hang on, let it go. You’re awesome – you will be fine!

Andi – More excited to see you as the Bachelorette that I thought I’d be…you were my favorite from the beginning, but you lost me on the overnights. Glad to have you back!

JP – dude, you poor thing – you’re clueless and it has nothing to do with a language or culture barrier. But, please take note of one thing – you stop being as good looking as you think you are when you treat people the way you do. Honesty is a good thing, but tact and compassion will take you further in your endeavors, socially and professionally.

Lincee, saaaave us from the madness with your recap! Loved Sharleen’s comments. ABC should hire her as the VOR (voice of reason) on the show . . .

I have massive love for Chris Harrison. It was written all over his face that he was thinking, “Wow, this guy’s a dick!” Juan Pablo was acting like an ass. He may have had a valid point but he tarnished it with his personality and love of being “honest.”

I could not believe the implosion last night. I think what JP and Nikki were trying to express last night is that they dont want to rush into an engagement and would rather take time to get to know each other in the real world. That’s very mature.

However the only thing I saw was a sad, beaten down woman who was picking up the scraps of affection the jerk she’s dating threw at her and wouldnt speak for herself. And JP just seemed angry, rude and ungrateful. Never thought I would agree with something Catherine had to say – don’t bite the hand that feeds you JP. So glad to see Clare finally stood up for herself – the way he treated her was horrible. And he’s the one who kept teasing some big surprise – I think he was gunning for Dancing with the Stars and didnt get it, so that’s why he was so combative.

Cant wait to see the other comments and read the recap!!

I thought Chris Harrison was an embarrassment last night. Juan Pablo is no prize, but Chris made a total fool out of himself. For Nikki’s sake, he should have just shut the hell up with his “love” agenda.

And, what a total company shill Sean has become.

What a night!

Wow, what a train wreck. I didn’t watch the entire season even though never missed your blog. Did watch home town, fantasy date, and last night. Juan Pablo is an insensitive, egotistical jerk who hides behind the “cultural difference and language” crutch. What a load of crap.
Wished Clare had walked out the moment he said that awful thing to her. Read somewhere it was “I love f***ing you”. Loved the arm block at the FRC and what she said to OHCH last night.
Poor darling Nikki, why is she still hanging around? He has no feelings for her except “I like you a lot”. Run Nikki!

Yes, in my estimation, we do know what Juan Pablo said to Clare in the helicopter. Based on what Clare did tell us and what she said when she walked away in St. Lucia it boils down to this: “I don’t know you but I loved #$%*ing you”.
Sad.

You can tell that Juan Pablo stopped cooperating with the production some time ago and Chris was given liberty to treat him as a hostile witness. I laughed along with Chris at his frustration. Time to move on!

And in the most surprising twist of the season, Clare shows us she’s got moxie! I was literally cheering from my chair when she palmed that prick. Way to go, Clare! There was so many uncomfortable moments last night, but the worst (for me) was Nikki not standing up for herself. Right before our eyes she transformed into a confident young woman into a shell.
I agree that JP doesn’t have to be “in 100% love”, but should’t he be on his way? After all, he did whittle away 26 other women to find the one who suited him perfectly. Right?

I’d like to know what kind of shots they had waiting backstage for OHCH during commercial breaks because he kept sprinting off as soon as the camera backed away. He came back funnier each time. “Why not do it all again?!”

I think this show does some damage to people in it, and I actually think it’s the men who get more damaged, possibly because they are self-aware at all. I thought both Brad Womack and this guy have anger issues, and are kind of jerks. But to have this discovered so publicly on national TV must be hard and you could tell JP was reading blogs and not getting it. Sean looked angry to me too and he was basically telling JP: there is no private life after this. I think Catherine probably tells him the same thing she told JP: “don’t bite the hand that feeds you.” I think she likes the attention.

Why were Sarah & Ari there? It seemed weird to have them in the mix of things.

Juan Pablo said he & Nicki were “starting over.” I’m sure once she viewed he & Claire frolicking in the ocean along with him being douchy to her friend Andi, she had second & third thoughts. I don’t blame them for trying to keep their relationship semi-private but for her to profess love on national TV & him to profess much like, that’s just sad. 🙁

Jackie – It was not Juan Pablo that was teasing a “surprise” last night, it was Chris Harrison. The producers were trying to pressure and bribe (!) JP into a proposal, the ending “they wanted” – – as when JP mentioned “I’m sorry you guys didn’t get the ending you wanted” he was talking to producers. And Patrick, totally agree with you. I’m no JP fan but at least he’s not up there pretending something totally fake like many who have gone through this process have done.

Okay, not defending Juan Pablo at all, but come on! Why was everyone casting him in the role of being the worst Bachelor ever? Brad Womack didn’t pick either girl on his first season and left BOTH of them allegedly broken-hearted.

Then, Mesnick proposed to one girl at the finale and then dumped her on live TV for another girl! You can’t get much more humiliating than that.

If he wasn’t in love with a girl, he shouldn’t propose. If he doesn’t love her, he shouldn’t say he loves her, like it’s part of the contract that he HAS to be in love! Geez.

Chris Harrison was horrible last night – and talk about hypocritical. I seem to recall he is divorced, so he shouldn’t be acting as if he’s the arbiter of all things true love. Why was he trying to browbeat JP into saying “I love her” if he doesn’t?

While I was glad Clare finally showed a little pride in herself, she shouldn’t have had sex with him in Viet Nam in the first place – you can’t really do that and then be shocked later if he brings it up again. (I guess that put speculation to rest on that question.)

And Catherine – for heaven’s sake. If he didn’t find true love, he didn’t find true love. Not everyone works out to get the goofy fairytale you did. She and Sean have been married a total of a couple of months – might want to re-visit that one in a few years. Out of however many seasons of this show there have been, exactly 5 couples (I think I counted correctly) have “worked out” (so far – time will tell). Has anyone ever calculated what percentage that is out of all the seasons?

Let’s just say it was a crummy season. ABC probably chose the wrong person to be the Bachelor, and it ended up not being very entertaining. It’s a reality show! It’s not real life.

Please tell me you watch it for escapism (and for Lincee’s hilarious recaps, which are ALWAYS entertaining).

Right on Ann! It was obvious to me that Juan Pablo was OVER it all. Even if he went into all of this knowing he would lose his privacy, he seemed to be operating out of frustration and hurt from the rumors and media. Seemed to me he got burned by all the tabloids and just shut down. His expressions and emotions were so different from when he first started the show as well.
He shouldn’t have snapped at Chris, but kudos to him for not proposing if he didn’t feel it… and didn’t they try to offer him money to propose?? And he didn’t take it…. just sayin…
