Pimping my friend for a good cause
I hate green beans. Do you know what else I hate?
Do you know what I love? When cancer infiltrates someone’s life and they fight back.
My friend Adam is doing that right now. Four years ago, his good friend Sam died of leukemia. After Sam’s death, all Adam wanted to do was make a difference. He wanted to punch cancer in the face. As a result of his efforts, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society nominated him as Man of the Year. When he asked me if I would help him raise awareness, my answer was “YES!” When he asked me how we should go about doing it, my answer was, “PIMP YOU OUT!”
This is a link to Adam’s campaign page. For every IHGB reader who donates $5 or more, your name will be put into a raffle. (Please email me to let me know that you contributed and I’ll keep a running list!) We will draw a name once the campaign is over and the winner will enjoy cocktails with both me and Adam at a fun place in Houston. Don’t worry — he’s paying.
If you don’t live in Houston, you’ll receive a swag bag from me and a mug shot of Adam you can frame and put by your bed. Sound good?
I think it’s important to know what you’re getting yourself into. In the spirit of all things Bachelor, I decided to ask Adam some personal questions based on our favorite reality show. Enjoy and make sure to donate today because the campaign comes to a close in just ONE WEEK!
Do you watch The Bachelor?
Ummm, No way!!!
Probably at least the last 10+ seasons of the Bachelor and Bachelorette.
This season, I might say Luke as he seems to be a good genuine guy, plus he is from Texas!! As far as favorite contestants ever, I would definitely have to go with a couple of the girls. Emily Maynard was a favorite of mine as was Kacie Boguskie on Ben F’s season. I also thought AshLee Frazier was gorgeous and sweet, and a plus that she is from right here in Houston!
Who is your least favorite contestant?
Daniel sky rocketed to the top of that list and I was surprised she gave him a rose. I guess you have to keep the crazies on long enough to keep ratings moving up. Keep it classy dude and keep your pants on! As far as all time, there are way to many to list, though I would say Ashley Iaconetti was pretty obnoxious crying every 30 seconds.
If you were on the show, what would your out of the limo icebreaker be?
I think it would depend who the girl was, but I doubt I would dress up as Santa or wear a unicorn mask. Honestly, I would probably just try to be myself and try not to say anything stupid.
A sweet and caring girl with Christian values but also knows how to have fun. Someone who enjoys giving back and volunteering. Someone who can hold a deep conversation about life but also be able to be goofy and act stupid with me. A girl who can dress up for a gala one night and be super low key and lounge the next. She also has to love to laugh and be able to take sarcasm and jokes!
I was not even aware they made denim panties and they actually sound quite uncomfortable. However, what is more in style, zip-up or button-up?
Yes, big fan! Though prefer to be in one without Jimmy Kimmel.
I have never had a helicopter ride but looks fun.
If someone else like the ABC is paying for it, then I think a fun active outing during the day would be ideal. Might as well throw in the helicopter ride to get us to a fun destination. Maybe a nice beach or somewhere we can walk around and sight see or even a sporting event of some sort. Then follow that up with a nice dinner outside with a great view followed by dancing the night away to a great band.
What are your thoughts on Our Host Chris Harrison?
I am a big Chris Harrison fan. I think he has class but also brings wit to the show. He is definitely someone I would enjoy sitting down with over dinner as I am sure he has some great stories to share. (Disclaimer: I did not pay Adam to say this.)
I actually do eat green beans, but if I had a blog, it might be called Ihatemostgreenthings.com.
Is Lincee one of the coolest people you know?
Lincee is certainly one of the best people I know! She is a truly gifted writer but one of the funniest people I have ever met. (Disclaimer: I did bribe him to say this.)
Will you be buying her book when it comes out?
I have a feeling I will be buying more than one copy when it comes out!
