IHGB Podcast #113: Summer Movie Preview 2019

Houston feels like the surface of the sun right now, so that means summer heat waves have officially hit our town. I anticipate we won’t get any relief until Hallmark Christmas movies hit around October. Therefore, we must take action and find sanctuary in cool places during these next few months.

I’m talking about movie theaters, people.

My friend Todd and I discuss our top summer picks in this episode. We’ve got a superhero saga, a animated flick, a live action phenomenon based off of a beloved cartoon, an extravagant biopic, and a Quentin Tarantino’s ninth studio film that I personally will not be seeing even though it has Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio in starring roles.

I love you both, boys, but this summer I choose toys and the Spider-Man. I hope you understand.

Todd’s Picks:

Plus One

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

Lincee’s Picks:

The Lion King

Late Night

Toy Story 4

Spider-Man Far From Home

Just to reassure you Lincee, “The Late Show” is not raunchy at all! It premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January and it was one of my girlfriends’ and my favorites out of 10 movies that we saw. You will LOVE it! Also one to look for this summer is “Blinded by the Light” – a movie set in 1987 England about a British-Pakistani teen who discovers the music of The Boss It is based on a true story and directed by the same woman that directed “Bend it Like Beckham.” It comes out in August and is a must-see!
